Catholic Priest?

Howdies!

Can anyone give me contact information for the Catholic Priest who is married? I attempted to search for it, but I can't seem to find it. I think he's out of Daytona or something...

I don't know about Daytona, but when I was looking for someone I found Father Wade Fahnestock from the Blue Kirk Mission in Lakeland.

Here is what he told me:

The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony by an Old Catholic Priest is recognized valid by Rome.
The Wedding Mass which includes Holy Eucharist is for baptized Christians - so I will need a copy of your baptismal certificates.
I do not 'charge' for sacraments. I request that an offering be made to our mission fund for $250.
I asked that my mileage expenses from Lakeland be covered at standard rates.
I also remember him saying that he needed to meet with us a month before the wedding, but I can't find the email that confirms that.

The Roman Catholic Church will not perform (or recognize) a marriage ceremony outside of the church. The Old Catholic Church will. The RCC will recognize a marriage performed by the OCC. I don't know all of the details surrounding the Old Catholic Church, but there is a lot of information available here: http://www.oldcatholic.org/

I'm getting married by a Presbyterian Minister, but a Catholic Priest will be in attendance. Then we'll have a small ceremony at our Catholic Church when we get back and they'll bless/recognize our marriage. Not sure how it all works, but it's worth discussing with your Priest.

this is all very interesting to me. i didn't push the occ thing with mark because i didn't think the rcc would recognize it...so now i'm having a rabbi...i was going to do a catholic blessing in the summer when i have my at home reception (this to appease my mother who is driving me crazy )...i don't even think the rcc will marry us, we've lived together for 5+ years...they wouldn't marry one of my friends because of this...

If one priest won't marry you, ask another. I think that our priest has realized that we live together. I think he would be happy to marry us as a way of nullifying the previous "indiscretions".

If I tried to go to confession and ask for forgiveness without the intent of ever marrying, but still living together, he said he can't offer forgiveness then. That's why I haven't been to confession since we moved in together!

Unfortunately, no. There was no way for us to get to FL in advance to meet with him as he had requested so we ended up using Pastor Sigfried Jaeger instead. He did a Catholic Wedding Outside of Mass for us, and we will be doing a Convalidation (blessing) in the RCC at some point.

It's not lying...its simply dont ask, dont tell. you will already be married so i doubt he'll ask...all you want is a blessing on the marriage

that's what i plan to do. my grandmother is so upset that we aren't having a catholic wedding, but i didn't want a mass etc...i just worry when we have kids, i want to be able to baptize them...
