category 9 rooms

Has anyone stayed in a category 9 room? Is there a lot of noise down there? I found a $500.00 difference between category 8 and 9. Is the category 8 worth the extra $5oo.oo? Please advise asap---thanks Jill

We like to stay on deck 2. We have not found it to be noisy, unless you book a cabin under one of the night clubs.
IMHO, I would book the cat. 9 and use the $500. towards tips and any other incidentials you may have.

We absolutely loved our cat 9 room...we were right by the elevators & never heard any noise....I would highly recommend deck 2

We also love category 9, deck 2 cabins. Stayed in one on our first cruise and booked another for the second.

It's also an easy walk up the stairs to Lumiére's/Triton's, Parrot Cay and Beat Street/Route 66 when the elevators are full.

In a cat 9 you are closer to the water (deck 2 vs deck 5, 6 or 7). The portholes tend to get spotty, but you can still look out at the ocean very well.

We've sailed twice in a Category 9 cabin on Deck 2 and love it. It's not noisy at all to the rear of the nightclubs.

This cruise we were upgraded to a Category 5 on Deck 7.

We loved our Cat. 9 room on our cruise last February! The only noise we noticed was from the railing on the pull down bed. When the ship was docking, the railing would rattle a lot. We finally figured out where the noise was coming from and stuck a towel between the railing and the mattress. That solved the problem! Too bad it took us a couple days to figure that out!

I agree with the other posters... I would save the $500 and book a Cat. 9 room.

I've stayed in 2518, right under the front right night club. It wasn't noisy at all.

As already mentioned, the windows got dirty from the ocean spray, but it was washed anytime the ship was in port.

Have stayed on Deck 2 several times and never had a noise problem....we have stayed 2546 before and was able to get that same cabin for the CA to FL cruise.

We had Cat 9 adjoining rooms, 2646 & 2648.

They are starboard side, third and fourth from the stern of the boat.

They were great. Right under a restaurant , never heard a sound from above us.

The day we arrived back in FL you could hear the screams of the passengers as they were dragged down the gangplank, though!

Easy walk up to restaurants, shops, shows and lobby (work off those calories!).

We liked 'em so much we booked the exact same rooms for our next cruise. I put my money where my mouth is.

The money saved will more than pay for all our excursions and tips!

We had a catagory 9 on our first cruise last March 2003. We loved it so much we are getting the same room for our next cruise in March in 2005. It was very quite and roomy. The room we had was midship near the elevators and stairs and was very convienient. I would not hesitate to get a cat.9, I would love to have a verandah, but the extra money is just not in our budget! Maybe one of these days. Just being on the Magic is a wonderful experience in itself.

We loved our cat 9 on the wonder I think it was rm 2019???
It was under the Cadillac lounge but we never had any noise problem, it was very convienient to the Disney theatre, just up a flight of stairs. Very close to the gangplank for getting off ship.
We booked the same room on the Magic for 05.

I agree save your $500 for fun money, the rooms are identical.

Ditto to everything already said. We will be staying on Deck 2 again for our 3rd cruise.

A verandah might be nice, but we don't miss it.

I notice posts on these boards from time to time asking if certain rooms are noisy.

Not to offend anyone, but I think unless some have had a horrendous time w/noise on previous cruises, people are overly paranoid about noise on DCL.

Don't get me wrong. We've stayed at hotels before where there is lots of noise w/inconsiderate people next door, upstairs, etc. (At WDW too, and even then it wasn't 24/7.)

We've stayed in cat 9's near the elevator, and cat 11 near the elevator.

I actually think we've had LESS noise on DCL than we have at many hotels.

(I hope I'm not singing a different toon when we cruise in three weeks! LOL!)

I'm a VERY light sleeper and any little noise will wake me up. Having a quiet cabin is really important to me.

What MH said. I was booked in 2518 - one of the so called noisy rooms - on my last cruise. The room is directly under Diversions and we never - I mean never - heard so much as the tiniest noise from above.

I can imagine a room under Rockin' Bar D/Wavebands might have some noise, but it didn't bleed to 2518.

For my next cruise, I have 2514 booked.

I loved our cat. 9 room 2504. It is a longer room then other cat. 9's. It was very quiet. The only time we heard noise was when the anchor was being let down. My dh is a very light sleeper and had absolutely no problems sleeping in this room. There was a lot more space between the bed and the couch and then the couch and the window, so it was very roomy! I can't wait to stay in it again someday soon.
