Catamaran Sail and Snorkel in St. Thomas

I wanted to thank everyone for your recommendations on our snorkel trip in St. Thomas. We had considered the pirate ship and the catamaran. We knew we made the right choice when we watched the pirate ship leave port FULL. Our catamaran left at 12:30p and only had 32 people on it. The ride over to Shipwreck Cove and back was heaven. Laying on the deck and watching the sails against the sky was a highlight of the trip for me. The kids were welcomed and the "free rum punch" was not an issue, no one overdid or embarassed themselves. We had always shunned away from these on our Carnival cruises.

The snorkel itself was a bit challenging, hazy enough that I could barely see the shipwreck (and deep enough that Rx mask might have been better). After the shipwreck we swam a ways over to a shallower area with fish, but still didn't see much. Swimming back to the boat against the current made me rethink how good of shape I am in...but then this was my 50th birthday cruise??!! LOL

All in all I would recommend it for the personalized attention and catamaran ride, but not so much for the snorkeling. Hope this is helpful to anyone considering excursions

Did you find the swim to be a challenge? I felt like I must have been doing something wrong LOL Maybe it was my worrying too much about my son and making sure he was ok. Of course he probably did better than I did!

Yes I did and been posting that on threads on this port adventure for a time, its for good swimmers and good snorkelers.
