Our kitty, Tigger (yes he who drinks from the bathroom faucet) always runs to the front door and greets DH when he comes home from work. DH says he's never seen a cat do that, only dogs. Our other cat, Simba, is very friendly only when he thinks he's going to be fed (but Tigger eats only dry food that's always out for him, so it isn't that). So I promised DH I'd ask-does anyone elses cat run to greet them when they come home?

Yup! My Tiger waits at the door, too. He also always follows us as far "out" as he can.

I usually come in the garage door when I come home and my cat is always sitting right there at the door when I come in. If DH is home and I am out, he says that as soon as the garage door goes up, the cat goes running to the door.

The last cat we had would sleep in a chair by the front door when DH worked late and would only come up to bed after he came home.

Yep, mine does that as well. Back when I had a steady work schedule & came home every night at the same time, I'd always find him sitting in the foyer waiting for me. On the other hand, if I happened to run home during the day for some reason, I'd find him asleep in the recliner or on my bed. :teeth:

Now that my schedule's more erratic, he runs out and greets me whenever I come home; the daily hour-long reunion drama then plays out (he has to follow me everywhere around the house, meowing and rubbing against my legs...I swear he thinks that every time I leave home, I'm never coming back!)

Several of our cats greet us when we return home in the evening. We take bets on who will get there first. Our dogs are kind of lazy--we are always met at the door by a cat. One of our cats follows along when the dogs go for a walk. She is very good at keeping up. We could never rely on the dogs to follow as well without a lead.

Mine is always waiting and if no one has been home all day, he's very affectionate.

Yes. Both our cats and our dog meet us at the door. :flower:

yes, you can see his feet under the crack of the door as you are unlocking it.

Yep! My kitty is always there to greet me.
She follows me around all day, and first thing in the morning, she jumps up on the bed to give me a good morning kiss. Then she's ready to PLAY! :Pinkbounc I can barely make the coffee, but she's exuberant that she finally has me to play with.

She has never done any of this for food as I have made sure to never feed her at those times, because I would NOT want a kitty to only greet me for that. Besides, she has a special meow to let me know when her bowl is empty, or when she's trying to scam me for food. :earboy2:

Not only do we have one who does this, all 6 of ours do that. :) Even when you're not coming home at feeding time. :D

Yes both of my cats do this. Although the older of the two tends to be a bit slower especially if she was sleeping. She acts like a little old lady even though she is only 7. :cat:

Our 2 cats are always near the door waiting(they don't try and run out either0 even if we're only gone for a short period. They are also"lap cats",if you sit down ,one of them is on your lap:cat:

My Tigger does it pretty much all of the time. Actually, we always laugh that we're greeted by a Tigger butt because he gets freaked out by the garage door as it closes while we come into the house.

Casper, our kitten, hasn't quite caught on to the pattern just yet. He's usually just strolling around the corner as we come in.

Yes, both my girls greet me at the door. Nothing like having those little faces greet me at the end of the day. :)

My Rusty does this ALL the time. He always sits by the door just waiting for us to come back home.
As soon as we are home he wants us to pick him up & then he will put his head right up against our neck & just purr & purr. He makes us feel so guilty for leaving him home alone!! ;)

Yup!! Spencer comes running as soon as he hears the door open. If I am not home and my husband is, he will sit at the door until I get home

Simba always greats me when I come home from work, sometimes Cali does too. They know who feeds them and gives them belly rubs and kisses and catnip. :teeth:

Maybe this should be a new thread, but speaking of weird cat behavior, does anyone else's cat actively watch TV? Mine doesn't watch everything, mind you, but get a program with animals on it on (especially cats), and he's riveted. I thought he was going to lose his mind when I watched The Adventures of Milo and Otis--he ran right up in front of the TV and sat there for probably 85% of the movie (except for a break when--IMO--he got overstimulated and had to go race around the apartment and play with his catnip mice and then harrass the fish in my aquarium by pawing at the glass).

Our cat has a meow greeting for each person in our house. She seems to adore it on weekends if we ALL leave the house for a few hours together. Hubby gets the best greeting on a general basis, as he's the "Feeding dude". I'm the "love monster" during the week, hubby goes to work, kids to school, I get 7 minutes of purring LUV. Ds is the big toy, or one who'll find a big toy, DD is the one to NEVER HARM but growl at to watch her ooze against a wall.
