Okay, if all the great people here at the Dis could say a prayer or think good thoughts for my kitty Blythe, I would greatly appreciate it! She has been battling mouth issues--swollen, painful gums and fever--for the last two months. She has been through 2 courses of antibiotics and they still look really bad. THey want to do a serious dental exam on her and will once her bloodwork comes back. I am about to take her for bloodwork now.

Doctor said there is a chance it is feline leukemia, which is very scary to me. I adopted her from a rescue group. They told me that a reliable way of testing in kittens is to test the mom. Her mom was negative. They don't test the kittens. They are professionals and I took them at their word. I have three other cats and I am SCARED, because if she has this, all my cats may have it.

Bloodwork should be back this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Please pray she doesn't have this and that it is just a bad tooth or another virus that will go away on it's own.

Thanks for you help.

I hope Blythe doesn't have feline leukemia and that they find something they can successfully treat. Good wishes coming your way for all you little kitties to be healthy.:goodvibes

My cat Willa recently did receive the dreaded diagonosis of Leukemia. For the past 5 years she has lived with other cats and luckily she did not pass it to them, try not to worry too much. I know I freaked and rushed my other cats down to the vet's for tests and they were all negative (thankfully). Hopefully she will pass her test and it will be something that can be treated. :goodvibes

I'm sorry, it looks like I somehow posted this post THREE TIMES!

Blythe tested negative for Feline Leukemia as well as FIV! SHe still has to have mouth surgery, but at least my mind is more at ease.

Surgery is Monday. The vet says her white count is high, and the type of white cells point towards some kind of allergy. They still need to do the dental, because the gums is so inflamed and painful, and they will do a biopsy to try and figure out what is going on.

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. Maybe I should have listened to my mom when she said I shouldn't add 2 more kitties to our household. I won't tell her that, though, LOL
