Cat Experts Please help...Something is wrong with my cat.

I would get a second opinion, if that's what your vet's going to hold you to. I agree your cat's life shouldn't depend on Feliway. It could help calm him down, though, until you find out what's bugging him.

ANd post your problems. These are cat people and some had the same experience you are describing. Vets were not much help.. there are things you can do however

NO you do NOT have to put kitty down.. even if this is behavioral (someone here mentioned their cat was spooked by an outdoor cat.. my friend had the SAME THING happen.. it took a LONG TIME but kitty GOT BETTER) putting down is NOT "the only option".. to me it's not even an option. If it's something that spooked kitty (another animal, toddler, noise).. they don't understand as people do and it takes time. Sometimes months. Sometimes even longer.

I hope you get some answers for your kitty! :grouphug: What a scary thing for you all.

I'm going to try the Feliway with my cat, but not for aggression. Tigger is very much of a scaredy cat and freaks out of anyone even rings the doorbell. One a good day he'll go hide under the bed for an hour. If someone actually comes into the house, he can be there for several hours and if guests are staying in the house, he'll be there for days, coming out only briefly to eat and use the literbox. I think that Feliway might help with that, but not so sure about your kitty.

The full blood work-up seems like a good idea and I agree with consulting with another vet if you don't get the answers you want from your vet. You want to explore all the possible reasons. Hang in there!

Waiting on an update..........hope things are better for your kitty

Just bumping... Wondering about the little fella. Hope he's better.

Did they actually do a urinalysis or just palpate his bladder? If they haven't done a U/A, I would have that done. One theory about the cause of sudden onset of aggression in cats is epilepsy. Epilepsy is a rule-out diagnosis, so your DVM may want to try a course of medication and see how he responds.
Good luck.

It sure would be nice to know something............

My parents' cat went "psycho" at around age 3. Instead of attacking others, he started attacking himself. Ended up with a shaved tail and stitches to match. He lives on kitty Valium now and for the most part is ok. When he wants attention or food, he sometimes starts going after his tail. Try to get another opinion and good luck.

Just wishing the OP luck. I have two kitties myself (sorry no pic in my siggy -- they're hard to catch with the camera).

I tried to PM the OP but they are not set up to do so..........so I guess the rest of us "wondering" cat lovers are left out here and limbo........I do hope he is OK though.
