I was just quoted a great rate for Dec 9 and the room is 2028

how bad is it....

Should I ask for anything available on a different part of the deck or change decks...

Hi. We love Deck 2. We have sailed midship but much prefer forward. We were in 2018 and 2020 in May and requested those rooms again. You are just off the elevator. We like that because we get to our room so quickly without going down L O N G hallways. And I don't like being near the smelly laundry room--I'm just real sensitive to smells. Plus if you have kids they can find the room easier. We've never been in a better room than a Cat 9 though. So I can't compare higher but I have been in a Cat 10. We SO loved having a window this time. Personally I think you are in a great spot and I would take it!! Let me know if you have any questions. We walked past "your room" many times!!! Debi

We love Cat. 9 on deck 2. Last time we had 2020 also! I like deck 2, its not crowded, less movement lower in the ship and closer to the water I love looking out that huge window. I'm sure a veranda would be wonderful, but for the price difference it just does'nt make since to us. I would rather save a little and go more often.:)

We stayed on deck 2 twice. We really liked that you were only 1 floor from some of the restaurants. We have stayed on deck 2 twice, deck 1 once and deck 6 once. Our least favorite was deck 6 and we even had a balconey. We just felt more movement from the ship and we liked the lower decks better. Once when we stayed on deck 2, we sailed through 20-25 foot waves and 50mph winds. Most people from the higher decks were sleeping in the hallways on decks 1 and 2. It was funny because some of them were ordering room service to be delivered to the hallway! soooo sometimes the lower decks are better!

We stayed in a Deck 2 Cat. 9 room for our cruise last February and loved it! We liked the big porthole, we had plenty of room for all four of us and we liked the location. We found Deck 2 to be very convenient. We took the stairs to most places -- except for the pools! We walked up seven flights of stairs to the pools once and decided to stick to the elevators after that!

Here are some pictures of our Cat. 9 room.

We booked another Deck 2 Cat. 9 room for our cruise next February. I think you will be happy with Deck 2.

We had a Cat. 9, Deck 2 on our May cruise and loved it. Mind you, we had been upgraded from a 12 so we were very very happy indeed.
Ditto to those who said they liked being close to the water - the views were awesome and the water is SO blue and clear. It was great to be close to the water.
I agree it was quiet although I can't say if it was quieter than other decks as I have nothing to compare it to. I will say that we were right under the nightclubs and while we could definately hear the noise, we were not in the room enough to really be bothered by it.

Have fun!

Cat 9 Deck 2 how bad?
There's NOTHING wrong with deck 2 rooms!!! The biggest problem is when you tell people that you are staying on deck 2 (and if they are not) they stick their noses up in the air and say "you're staying DOWN THERE:rolleyes:" like it's the bowels of the ship. The cat 9 rooms are the same size as the cat 5's (DCL includes the veranda in the sq footage so it "appears" to be larger).

I've stayed on decks 2, 5 and 7. The entire ship is clean from top to bottom. And everyone gets to use the common areas of the ship (even those of us staying way down on decks 1 & 2)

People need to realize that MOST cruise ships are not like the Titannic wher the lower decks were the 3rd / 4th class passengers (and treated as such).

jrabbit, I totally agree with you!! We stayed in cabin 2504 in Feb. and absolutely loved it!! We have had a verandah on two of our cruises and were worried that we would miss it, but we didn't. The big window was great. My dd's loved the fact that they could sit in it. We have been on deck 7 twice, deck 5 and deck 2 and deck 2 is my favorite!:earsgirl:

We stayed in 2554 and loved it. We booked another cat. 9, deck 2 cabin for our next cruise.

Someone mentioned that the laundry room area is smelly. What exactly do you mean by smelly? Fabric softener smell or some kind of bad smell?
