Cat 6 Land/Sea Cruisers who stayed at AKL

Sail land/sea Jan 23rd and had cabins cat 6 6582, 6584 and 6586. Also stayed at AKL during the land portion. We had three rooms on the third floor facing one of the smaller savanahs ( not the Arusha). Animals more active earlier in the morning, saw giraffes walking out at break of daylight. Nothing to see at night. The third floor was just about the right height and our room was kind of at the midpoint of the trail so we were not too far from the lobby and close to the washing machines.
The rooms in itself was adequate, not exactly spacious and I would say that we were satisfied. It was out first time at the AKL and I think that we stayed there more for the experience than the rooms. The resort in itself is amazing and the service was very good.
You cannot completely turn off the AC because it is on a centralized system and we found that annoying since it was either too hot or too cool but other than that, no problems. The bus service was convenient and we never had to wait too long.

We are staying at AKL this year for our L&S Cruise.
We went last year with friends and they stayed at AKL and loved it. We stayed at BC-Loved it also but this year wanted to try the AKL because it is so different- how often can you sleep so close to Animals. LOL :goodvibes

Did the Land/Sea 3/3-3/10 & stayed at AKL. When we got there I upgraded to concierge and had the Uzima Sav. Great location, awesome sunrise, & lots of animals ( daybreak & late afternoon ). Up front Concierge seems expensive.......but you can actually cut down on your eating costs, and recover some of the difference because of the food offered at the lounge ( we ate breakfast all three days up there, and snacked so much one night we skipped dinner! ). You get a larger room w/refrig, and the lounge is awesome!! We have stayed at AKL three times in the past 4 years and cannot say enough good things about it! Make sure you explore the resort a little, ask the cast members some questions( esp. the children ), and try Boma for dinner. Transportation has recieved some bad press, but we have alwalys found it to work just fine. Hope You have a great time!!!!!!!

We stayed at AKL for just one night before our cruise 3/6. It's a personal opinion, but I won't choose to stay there again. The only reason being I didn't care for the decor. I thought it was too dark and busy. Mara (the foodcourt) was good, the service was good, the pool looked great and the animals were neat. I'm not sure what your other options are with the L/S, but I prefer the Polynesian. The monorail, Kona Cafe, the tiki torches, etc. I just hope we're lucky enough to stay there when we return in November. We may split our stay with Poly and Wilderness lodge. Happy planning!
