Cat. 5 question

We were just upgraded to a Cat. 5, Deck 7. What are the sleeping arrangements like? I know it has a Queen/2 twins and a fold out couch. Is the fold out couch big enough for a 3 and 7 year old to sleep on? Is there also the pull down bed from the ceiling? Everything I've read says our room sleeps 4 people, I'm not just sure how. :goodvibes Thanks!

there's a 4th bed that folds down out of the ceiling over the sofa bed.

That depends on the stateroom. We had a Cat. 5 (7070) and no pull down. As for the pullout question, I'd think it would be comfy enough a a 3 and 7 y/o.

If there are 4 of you in the party, there will be four berths in the cabin. While some category 5 rooms have only three berths, they will not book a party of 4 in one of them. You'll have the sofa bed and fold down bunk over it. Dave's site has a good illustration of how the bunk works:

Hello
I am sailing on the Magic in August in Cat 05 and i havent received any information on where our cabin is located. Are all the rooms for Cat 5 in a good area? I read that some people were saying there cabin was to far or in a location where it was a lot of traffic etc.

Do you have a cabin number yet? The category 5 rooms are all on the outside of deck 7. This is my favorite deck. Since there aren't many inside staterooms and no public rooms on deck 7, it doesn't have as many people wandering the halls. We most often stay on deck 7 aft, so I can't comment on all of the areas of this deck, but we've stayed right across the hallway from the aft elevator lobby, and had no problems with elevator or traffic noise. I actually prefer to be closer to the elevators, since it makes it easier to get around the ship.

No I haven't receive a cabin number. It just says Cat 5. When do you receive your cabin number? It's great to hear how you love deck 7 which will be the deck category 5 is on :) I read several post that talks about 7 aft. Can't Wait. We will love to be close to the elevator.

If you don't receive a cabin number when booking, you will usually get it when your documents arrive. If you booked directly through DCL, you can check your reservation online here. If they've assigned you a cabin, it should be listed here. If you booked through a travel agent, they could find out if you've gotten a room assignment yet.

I personally don't think there are any bad category 5 rooms.

This will be our 5th cruise and we always do cat 5. Plenty of Room with 2 kids. This year 6 & 7. They love to take turns sleeping on top. No problems with noise or high traffic areas/ 14 days but who's counting!!!

Great!! thanks for the information. Do you request a special cabin in Cat 05? Or do u accept whatever they give you b/c all the rooms are great?

we re-book on board and are able to pick our cabins usually in the middle but not close to the elevators. They show you a map of the ship and you can pick where you want to be.
:earsgirl: I just realized it is 5 more days not 2 weeks til we leave..Must have pixie dust on the brain.. Can't wait.

We were just upgraded to room 7608. We are so excited about the balcony, but will there be a lot of noise, being so close to the elevator? My parents are in the adjoining room, so I'm not worried about that. TIA! :)

On our first cruise, we were in 7106, which is right across the elevator lobby from your cabin. This remains my favorite of all the rooms I've been in. I did not have any problems with noise, and found that being that close to the stairs and elevators made it easier to get around the ship. I now prefer to be closer to the elevators.

I don't understand! How do you get upgraded? Is this common? Sounds great. I'd like to get an upgrade.

Thanks Lloyd - that's reassuring! :flower:

llinco711 - it's just luck - or pixie dust!! Sending some your way... :wizard:
