We are about to book our next DC and wondering what anyone might recommend in a Cat 4 stateroom. We are travelling with three kids under 11yrs old.

we had 8002 was the second from the front of the ship loved it...
got to walk by all the suites......

Any problems with noise? Would mid-ship be a better location for access to everything?

we had no problem with noise ,
personally i think location depend on one's own personal preference i know that midship u get some noise problems

i believe we where under the spa area so it was quiet

mid ship u have the pool areas lot more traffic

I was in a cat 4 this past September. I did hear noise from above (we were a bit forward). The one thing that has kept me away from verandahs in the past happened: one of the kids in my party had a thing for throwing things overboard (at least it wasn't another child!). The room was a little more spacious, but there is only 1 bathroom. Consider 2 connecting rooms in a lower category. That way there is twice as much space, 2 bathrooms, 2 uppers (possibly) and enough lowers so that no one has to sleep in a bunk if they don't want to.

We were in 8030 and our married children were in the adjoining 2 family suites (category 4's) 8028 and 8026 with their families. They LOVED these rooms and the location was great.

We were upgraded from a cat. 6 to 4. We loved our Category 4. This floor seems to a lot less crowded then the others since you do not have staterooms across from you and it was nice to walk be and look at the suites :) We were in 8015 which was close to the elevators (very nice and convenient). We did not hear hardly any noise, but we were below the adult pool.

We just sailed in August and were in cabin 8000. We LOVED this cabin. Whenever we docked we had a perfect view of the Captain during docking. It was quiet, and just one deck below the pools. We felt no motion, which some people have mentioned in the past.

I have had cabins 8000 and then 8012 and I can tell you i thought it was pretty quiet, except one morning when they were hosing the deck above off, and you heard a few chairs scrapping the deck, but this was not a big deal.

I would think mid ship below the pools is where you would have the most noise.

Reading all of your posts has made me feel much better. I just upgraded my family from our usual Cat 6 on Deck 6 to a Cat 4 for our New Year's Cruise this year.

I was really anxious about the noise. We've always had the same cabins so it was a bit of a risk.

Don't have my cabin assignment yet, but will soon!

We have had a Cat 4 stateroom on our past 3 cruises; 8068, 8054 & 8076. We have rebooked 8076 again for this Feb. We have had our three kids with us each time (15,12 & 6 at last sailing). We have really enjoyed the stateroom and found it to have ample room. We are very heavy packers and have been able to stow all our luggage (10 suitcases one trip) and completely unpack each time. With the split bathroom there was always room for every one to get ready (even with a teenage girl not curtailing her beauty regime one iota!) We especially enjoyed 8076 because we were near to the aft stairs & elevator and often sent our older son up to the beverage station or to Topsiders for a quick "first breakfast". As another poster mentioned, there was one time we heard them washing the deck above, but other than that we did not experience any noise problems in any of the rooms we had. We have wondered if we might want two rooms as the boys get older (and bigger!) But for your children's age category, I think you will find it great. Have a terrific cruise!

We cruised in stateroom 8008 this past May - we loved that on the drill the first day we got to walk through the secret back corridors to our tender station and see some cool areas, very neat and clean. It was quiet and we were near the bridge area as well. We loved it, were upgraded from a cat 5. We have 2 kids and don't need all the room but with 3 you may be glad to have it.
