CAT 12 guarantee

Hi All,

My dad and I are considering doing a 3 night cruise on the wonder on November 20-23. We usually do 7 night or 10 night. My dad and I want to do a father son trip and my family is going on so many trips it has to be as cheap possible. We can get a CAT 12 GUAR for 758 total. Is that a good deal? I understand what a guarantee means but am wondering what are the chances of getting better then a 12? Also if we got a 12 how bad are they? Are they super noisy? I really wouldnt care because I would be just so happy if we can swing this. Let me know your opinions on this.

We booked 4 staterooms at GTY 12 rate for an upcoming 7 day cruise on Jan 22nd. We were upgraded to Category 9's (outside porthole cabin). Since there are only about 13 Category 12 cabins, there's a good chance you'll be moved up to at least category 11 or a 10 (maybe better). My understanding is that Cat 12's and Cat 11's are basically the same, but 11's are on a higher deck. Cat 12's and 11's only have the 1 bath. The primary advantage of Cat 10's is that they have an extra half bath. Regardless, Disney's cabins are bigger than the industry standard, so you really can't go wrong at any level.

Although there's no known way to guarantee free upgrades, odds can increase by booking early, having 4 people in your cabin (most cat 12's only sleep 3), and traveling during the "off season" dates when either more cabins are available for upgrades or Disney books more people at the GTY rate to get them onboard knowing those guests will be moved up to better cabins.

I would go for it! My feeling is that any room on board DCL beats home any day of the year, LOL! In fact, set me up in a lifeboat with a blankie....
