Castway Cay

I must say that I so badly wanted to be a smart aleck when I saw the question. For one thing, I hate ambiguous titles like, "Castaway Cay". It's as bad as titles like, "What would happen if...". The smart aleck response was going to be something like, "Yeah. You have to bring your own umbrella. In fact, I'd advise bringing your own sand, because Disney charges by the cubic yard, and with Bahamas VAT added these days it's really expensive."

There are a *lot* of umbrellas. I have no idea where you'd put your own in your stateroom if you were able to bring one.

The one gets to me is "Has anyone ever (stayed in room XXXX/booked concierge/eaten at Remy/done the dolphin excursion/etc)?" My first thought is "No, no one has ever (whatever)".

Well, at least the title has the question in it. The title used for this thread is so ambiguous as to be laughable.

How about "Have a Question" or "What would you do?"?

Wow, you are all being pretty harsh! You don't know the person you are talking to. Just because you are all cruise vets, doesn't mean you need to be mean about it. How about if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Hmmm.... I believe I answered the question.

We're just commenting on thread titles. It's nice to have the title give you more of an idea of what it's about. Sorry if you saw that as harsh. No offense meant.

We all answered the question, while pointing out to somebody that using a generic title isn't exactly the best way to get an answer to a question. Me? I'm not apologizing for what I said. It's how I feel, and if I don't express how I feel about something then the same thing is perpetuated, which leads to more unsearchable titles in the forum and more of the same question being asked over and over again.

I'm in several forums that state, to an extent, that if you don't use the search function you will be laughed at, harassed and made fun of, which rankles me to no end. Not everybody knows that searching is the best way to find an answer. We didn't do that. We couched our answers in humor without just saying, "Do a search." I think we did a really good job of showing restraint compared to a lot of forums out there. There wasn't a mean comment made. If this is your definition of mean, then you definitely don't want to get to know me and my brand of sarcasm and humor, all in good fun, in person. I'd most definitely rub you the wrong way. :hippie: pirate:

There are a lot of umbrellas, but if you don't get to CC early, you are likely not to get a spot under one, as people tend to put their stuff all over the shaded chairs and then decamp. We took our time getting off the ship and barely managed to get a chair at all. The family next to us had eight chairs saved and I never saw more than three of them being used at any one time.

It's pretty simple. If you don't like the title, don't click on it. If you don't want to respond to a generalized title, then don't. Someone coming on here to ask a question about Disney cruise line is what this forum is about. They don't need a lecture on how to post.
There are a lot of people out there that aren't tech savvy, don't speak English well, can't type well, aren't sure how to do a search. The OP doesn't have many posts, so they are obviously new and learning how to use the boards. Let's not make the new comers feel bad for asking a question just because it isn't how you like it.

Agree, your right.

If you don't like the title, don't click on it

To be fair, alot of the time you don't know how non-descriptive is until you click on the thread and I do agree that more effort should be made in making sure the thread title accurately indicates what the thread is about. And as strange as it might seem that someone thinks you need to bring your own beach umbrella on a cruise, I know I've asked a ton of "silly" questions in my years. This should be the one place where silly questions are welcomed.

Oh my. As a fairly new member....I was a long time lurker....I too once asked a question that I considered quite sane but the responses were so snarky that I have since done only reading, no questions. The answers to this post reinforce my perception that there are things that annoy us all. I'm pretty low key but the Trip Reports that go on , and on, and on for a year or more drive me up the wall !!! While I appreciate the time and effort involved, and I certainly have gleaned information from them, surely anyone can put together a TR in a timely manner. Whew ! I feel so much better having that off my chest. Thank you all for filling my internet time with such fabulous entertainment and down right wonderful information.

That is just so rude and inconsiderate >:(
