Castle TV show question

Forgive me, as I know the show was discussed earlier this year, but I had them on DVR and hadn't watched, so I didn't go on the thread. I tried to search, but searching Castle on a disney board isn't very productive

Anyway, here is my question. Were we given background info on how the detectives mom was murdered? It seems like all of a sudden he was investigating it, and figured it out Was there some twists or info discussed in earlier episodes. I saw them all, but the first couple, I watched much earlier than the rest of them.

And BTW, I really like the show. Once I finally got around to watching them all. Thank goodness they are renewed. Usually when I find a show I like they cancel it. Plus he is so gosh-darned cute

From my recollection, no. We know Castle got the old case file and was working on it, but that's about it. No hints as far as I couls tell.

And yes, Nathan Fillion is the man.

when Castle was talking to the Detective (why oh why can't I remember her name) on why she became a police officer....it was because when her mom was murdered the police assumed it was part of a breaking and entering gone wrong. But she knew it wasn't.
