Going to Universal for the first time in two weeks! My friend and I probably won't ride FJ, but we REALLY want to do the walking tour.

Im not finding a lot of information on when/why they close the tour only line. We will be there for early admission on Monday June 17. Its considered Busy..but not Very Busy on the crowd calendars Ive seen. If we go there first thing, will that not be considered peak time and most likely it will be open?

The castle tour line closes depending on the wait time for the ride. Generally, if the wait is 90 minutes or more the castle tour line will close. During early entry you should have no problem :)

Thanks...thats just what I was hoping to hear!

Being that we aren't "riders" are we missing the sights from any other wait lines? Ive heard of people waiting in the lines just to see the extras and then ditching just before the ride. Is that really worth it on any of the rides?

I think it's worth it on Forbidden Journey, actually. You miss the Mirror of Erised and statue of the One-Eyed Witch, the greenhouses and a few corridors which include statues of the founder and architect, the house points, the gargoyle that guards Dumbledore's office, and a few talking portraits. If the wait is low (especially early in the morning or very late in the evening), I would say go for it.

Are you really not planning on going on any rides at Universal? Some interesting queues I can think of between the two parks are Spider-Man, Men in Black, Mummy, E.T., Dragon Challenge.. just off the top of my head.

Im going to do some research and look into some of the other attractions. We're both plus sized and my friend is VERY busty, so anything with an over the shoulder harness isnt going to fit her.

I mostly meant for WWoHP...The two other rides don't interest us much, but we were wondering if its worth waiting in the queue to see the other HP attractions. That's good to know about the FJ.

So if we want to ride FJ, is there any reason to do the Castle Tour? Do you see different things, or just more if you're in the ride queue?

The Case Tour has a different version of the portrait gallery, but other than that it parallels the main queue starting on Dumbledore's Office. It allows you to slow down and listen to the storyline as well as take pictures (especially if you have a nice large camera that wouldn't be allowed on the ride).
