That's part of what I'm wondering. I know for the 50th they'll be doing some "stuff" to the castle, but I thought this November would be a little early to start that.
If it's just the walk-through, then that's going to be invisible.
The one time I went as a child I was SURE there had to be a way to go INSIDE the castle. My mother insisted that there was not and I believed her.
Then when I went as a young adult I was with a camp for children with disabilities and found out that you COULD go INSIDE the castle. I was ecstatic but was with a sweetheart that used a wheelchair and would NEVER dream of going without her. I would have carried her on my back if I could but was frankly exhausted from all the lifting I had already done that day (Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, Small World, etc. We had and AWESOME day! ) So couldn't go.
Then I waited to take my daughter until she was 7 as we had moved to Alaska and it is a bit expensive. And found out that while she is a HUGE Aurora fan, she HATES stairs in the dark. So while she went through with me I couldn't really enjoy it.
Now its closed and may not reopen. Sob! LOL! Sob! But I can see why it is and can only hope they figure out some way to either make it work for folks that can't do stairs or create something else spectacular for that spot. I can't see them leaving it vacant as it IS the castle, but then the lagoon has sat there vacant for some time, so I suppose. There is that shop there that had princess stuff when we were there the summer before last and that all is actually a rather large space. Maybe they could do a small restaurant ala Cinderella's Royal Table. That would be cool.
I have heard various things to why the castle walk thru is closed. I have heard, originally, it was for safety after 9/11. I have heard that they are doing refrub. I have heard the ADA thing. I am not sure anyone knows for sure.
