I have not heard of any new talk about adding a new level to the Castaway club. Has anyone heard anything or has DCL hinted anything about a new level being created. The last cruise we were on, there were several people who have cruised 30, 40 or even 50 times. Does anyone else think the time has come for DCL to address this?:cool1:

There are several of us here who feel it may be time for this. However, there's been no official (or unofficial) word/hint of it happening. In fact, many of the Platinum perks have been reduced or removed in recent years.

I am going on my 10th in feb 2014 and my 11th at newyears 2014/5

I don't think they will raise the current levels but if added a 4th level for lets say 25 I think that will be fair.

After those 2 I will on the ships for 77 days.
Those people with 40 have been on the ships longer then some of the crew.

We already have 67 days after 6 cruises. I wish that DCL did their loyalty program like other cruiselines (by number of days).

We will be doing our 30th DCL next month....I do wish they had another level or didn't keep taking away the perks of the current Platinum level.

what benefits did they drop

The biggest two (for us) was that the Onboard booking shipboard credit was reduced to a fixed amount regardless of your CC level and that they discontinued the "Platinum Experience". The fact that they replaced it with what I call the Buy One Get Something Platinum Shopping Experience and act like it is just as good is a bit insulting. They have also reduced the offerings on the "treat" that they offered. (We aren't wine drinkers so it was never a big perk because food is plentiful; but it was nice to get something different from room service -- I don't understand the purpose now when most of the food choices are very similar to things anyone can order from room service at any time.) The shopping discount was reduced (from $25/$100 spent to 10%).

Also depending on who is working in the port, they may or may not let you check in at the concierge desk.

I'd like to see them add a tier if only it would get them to re-introduce the "experiences". Some of them were very interesting and it was nice to have something new to look forward to doing.

which port cant you check at congeire

Platinum should be able to check in at the Concierge desk at all home ports. However in Port Canaveral, we have been directed away from there several times. Often it's not worth the energy to explain the cast members. We'll either just go on the other lines if they aren't too bad or ignore the cast member and walk over to the concierge desk.

On some cruises there's so many platinum people it just isn't practical to have them board with concierge. The first Hawaiian cruise had more platinum than newbies.

I would think that DCL could do some kind of combination cruises/nights cruised. The should also add some of the perks they took away back at some point.

I agree. It doesn't seem fair that a 3-night cruise counts the same as a 14-night.

Last time there was a long thread about changing CC levels, everyone had an idea for a change. Usually started by invoking "fair," followed by whatever rule change would give them a higher CC level. Number of days, amount of cruise fare, level of cabin booked, total amount spent...to name a few.

I would have DCL count how many cruise you have taken with them MINUS the number taken on other cruise lines. After all it is a <loyalty> program!

I was poking around on other cruise websites and I liked Celebrity's method:

1 credit per cruise
1 additional credit per cruises of 12+ nights
1 additional credit for sailing concierge

I agree with this with one exception... 3,4,5,7 day should not be equal. Celebrity does not offer anything less than 7 nights, which is why they offer an extra point for 12+ nights. So using their logic.. I would suggest

. 5 credit for 3-4 nights
1 credit for 5-7 night

Then follow the additional points for more nights & concierge.

While I agree with your point, Celebrity most certainly does offer 3/4/5 night cruises, and they count as 1 credit under their current program.
