Hi ,
This is our 2nd cruise, so 1st time as members of castaway club.
I was wondering about the captain's reception. When is it and how long? What happens at it?

Also what has been the recent in-stateroom gift? I'm really hoping for a Castaway Cay beach towel....

Thanks for everyone's help. Even though I rarely post I do "lurk" here daily. And as the cruise gets closer, multiple times per day. (11/8 westeren cruise)

The Castaway Club reception was held on Tuesday (Grand Cayman) on our August 16th Western cruise. I believe this is usually the day on which they hold the reception on the Western but you'll receive a card by DCL Mail (delivered to your fish outside your stateroom door) which will give you the time and day of the event. The reception is very nice and is usually well attended.

They set up a small buffet with finger foods in Rockin Bar D, serve free drinks (both with and without alcohol), and have music. The officers of the ship usually give a short speech (not more than 10 minutes or so) and then mingle with the return cruisers.

The whole event is usually 30 to 45 minutes long but you can come and go as you please.

The Castaway Club gift is still the beach towel.

Thanks for the info. Is it usually pretty well attended?

I love the idea of "fish mail"!

The gift about a year and a half ago (March 2002 fire cruise), the gift was a great tote bag....sturdy and well-designed. I'd like to get a beach towel the next time......March 20 cruise....can hardly wait.

I LOVED the totebag! I hope they switch back to it by December! The towel was nice but I think the totebag nicer!

WE have several of the CC gifts.....currently it is still the beach towell. Here is a link to what it looks like along with the pin that is also in each stateroom....you actually receive 2 pins per stateroom and 1 towel.

LisaG....yes it is usually very well attended. On a few of the recent Magic cruises there have been upwards of 700 people. Sometimes they have to spread the reception out thru all the clubs on Deck 3.

We have the tote bag and the towel/pin. We use the tote bag - its great. Will never use the towel or pins.

I hope that they come up with another nice gift by the time we cruise again.
