Anyone know if it's possible to hire just flippers? Dh and dd have their own masks and snorkels but not flippers and it sounds like they might need them.

Also dd is 6 nearly 7 and a fairly strong swimmer for her age. I understand that the best snorkelling is quite a swim, but can't find that much about the depth. Is there anywhere to stop and rest at all or will she need to be swimming/treading water all the while? She is happy snorkelling and being out of her depth but I'm worried about her stamina and just how long to allow them off without knowing if there's the opportunity to stop.

Thanks all

Not real sure, but if you have to get any part of the snorkel equipment rental I think it's the same cost. I could be wrong (I hope so).

The depth most of the way out runs about 4-6 feet (dependent on the tides/waves) with about 7-8 feet all the way out.

Thanks. I think we might just buy flippers as it'll be cheaper than hiring the whole package.

Not too deep then, and with a vest too i think she'll be fine. Will just play it by ear when we're there and see how she gets on as she's so excited to do some more snorkelling.

My understanding is that you can rent just the fins and it is much less expensive than the entire package.

I suggest writing DCL and asking if you can and the cost.

When we went snorkeling I spent a lot of time just floating face down looking around -- I found that easier to do than trying to stand up; plus you don't stir things up that way.

I went Snorkeling with the vibe. The gave us an option to wear flippers or not. But I would wear flippers because it is A LOT of swimming. You can rent them alone. Just remember to put the flippers on AFTER you get waist deep in the water. It is very hard to walk, I almost got stuck.

Yes you can get just flippers, vests will be provided if you don't have one. Early it was quite shallow for us but as the tide came in at was a good 8 feet around the statues and pods. resting is merely inflating your vest and floating for a bit. Problem with bringing your own flippers is their size, they take up a lot of luggage space and our adult size did not actually fit in a smaller suitcase. We have brought our own but don't any more, we do like our own masks and snorkels, fit better and a step up from rental gear. We would have no objecting to using rental gear, we have and it is fine.

Thanks all that's great, think we won't bother taking the flippers then, and save luggage space for shopping ;)
