Can anyone tell me if there are beach chairs on Castaway Cay (in the adult section)? If so, are they free or is there a rental charge.

There are lots of chairs and some hammocks. All included. Just don't wait to long to claim them!

Oh... Thank you!! I am pregnant and have been advised that it isn't safe for pregnant women to lie flat on their backs so I was getting worried about laying on the sand all day!!

Kelly,

Not to worry. At both beaches they have lots of loungers with adjustable backs (so you can lie flat, sit up straight, or a number of in between stages). They also have short beach chairs we you can sit up straight. Many people take these to the waters edge and sit with their legs in the water.

They have chairs there but I never heard that pregnant women shouldn't lay on their backs...heck I slept flat on my back my whole pregnancy on a bed and on a hard bench at work...

Thats funny because it has been a topic of conversation around my house about how everything they say not to do has been done in the past by many pregnant women and their babies were fine. But, supposedly as you get bigger the weight of your belly can compress some important artery if you lay flat on your back. The result would be the woman feeling dizzy and the fetus not getting enough oxygen. Anyway, I'm glad that they have chairs:)

yes, there is truth to this. I used to work as a surgical scrub technologist for 10+ years. Whenever we had surgery to perform on a pregnant woman (greater than first trimester) we would make sure to position her NOT flat on the surgery table, but side-lying (on the left side, if memory serves) using positioning devices to keep her there and to keep her from rolling off the table!! :p

NO BUCKAROO'S DAD!!!!!
Bite your tongue and on to the next topic ;)
Cheers,

Well I guess I was fine since I didn't gain a pound during pregnancy...the first 3 months I lost 10 pounds a month and didn't gain any of that back until the last two months

I guess that I gained some weight for other moms with over 40 pounds with both kids. I even lost 5 pounds at first with DD. I lost my appetite too so it wasn't that I was eating alot more. I slept on my tummy...thanks to my waterbed. :) The last month I had to use a couple pillows but I was comfy. No matter how much DH tried to dig just the right hole in the sand for me when we went to the beach...it didn't quite work.

OK, BD, I know you and others are thinking it too.... what kind of work did you do that you could sleep on a hard bench at work???
