I have heard mail posted on the island takes 4 to 6 months to arrive, is this true?

We mailed something from there in March and it took one month to arrive at our recipeiants in the States.

We mailed several postcards from there in 2004 and they haven't showed up yet . . . :coffee:

FYI. Last week, we had several ready to mail on the way back to the ship at 3:00. The doors were locked and nobody was there. No hours were posted, so we don't if they were open in the morning. It was frustrating after buying and preparing post cards.

If the post office is closed you can go to the desk and ask them to mail your postcards; it will have the Bahamas marking on it... That is what we had to during our last cruise.

Ours took about a month or two to get to us, but it was very exciting to get in the mail:)

We have found that the Post Office is almost always open when you arrive at Castaway Cay, so we always make sure to drop off our post cards when we leave the ship. I always buy extra stamps for the next trip as well, then you don't have to wait in line, just drop your stuff off.

Buying stamps at the Post Office is one of the few instances you will need cash.

As far as how long it took our postcards to reach the mainland, it was about 3-4 weeks.

We were there about a week ago. It was closed in the morning when we passed by it and also closed in the afternoon when we were heading for the ship.

I was on the Easter Cruise out of Galveston. The Post office on CC was closed the whole time we were there. I took postcards to GS and they put the cost of the stamps on my room account. 6 weeks after returning home 2 of the post cards have arrived but the third one is still missing:confused3. The stamps were Bahamian.
Still hoping for the last card to arrive.

Ours took a month. Our cruise in December was the first time that the PO was closed. I went to GS and paid for stamps and they mailed them the next cruise when the ship was in port.

Also, I found out from guest services that you can leave your passport with them prior to arrival at CC, and when the ship is cleared, they'll apply a CC stamp in your passport. But you have to leave your passport with them prior to stopping there.

Goes to show you can always teach an old dog new tricks.

This I did not know!!! You taught another Old Dog!! :thanks:

The first time in four trips the post office was open. The stamps I bought at the post office on June 15, 2018 were of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. I have dropped post card off on previous cruise at Guest Services and it showed up right around 6 weeks later. There is not much to the post office. Just two windows (they only had one open because there was no line, with one employee) and a bin to put the cards in to be mailed.
