As I promised, this is my report on the Castaway Cay Cruise. I’ve got to say that we would have preferred to have stayed on the island than to take this cruise because of its length in time. It was an hour and 45 minutes, by the time we got back it was time to return the ship. That being said, it was nice but entirely too long, once out in the ocean we stayed at one place for about ½ hour waiting to see dolphins, which at the time we did not but then 2 appeared as we were on our way back.

We had lunch at Serenity Bay and then checked in with Marge’s Barges at 12:50 (our sailing time was 1:15pm)

Then we waited here but didn’t board until 1:30:

This is a picture of the boat that takes you out.

Once we boarded, this is the interior of the boat:

We are taking off the island, which was very nice views of the island and of the Magic:

All was going well as we were speeding through the ocean and getting great sites of the island:

Then we stopped, the captain said we were waiting to see if dolphins came near, we waited and waited and waited. We waited so long I fell asleep. Then the Captain offered some chips and some kind of juice drink, we didn’t have any since we had just had lunch before boarding. Did not check out the restroom either so I can’t comment on that.

It was pleasant enough but entirely too long. They really should adjust the time out at sea. I felt that it was a waste of money, I would not do it again because we missed out on the island where we were having so much fun. Maybe with a larger more festive group it would be worth it but for couples or singles I would not recommend it. JMHO.

Does anyone know why the pics didn't come out. I've done it before and its always worked??? :confused3

Sorry I am not sure about the pictures.

But you can tell me a bit more about the cruise? Did they discuss the history of the island? any vegetation? life on the island?

Was it simply a look over here, that is x?

V - A Bar?!!! hmmmm....wonder why you're asking?!!!

so you Merlot junkies have something to do Karen..... :stir:

I can't answer you on why your pics don't show, but I hope you are able to get it figured out! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the review. :goodvibes

No bar on board, not much of anything. There was a history and environment narrative that was piped in and the Captain seemed to answer any questions anyone had but that was it. It seemed quite boring to me, like I said before if it was a shorter run it would've been more fun. I was not the only one that fell asleep, that should say it all. To be fair though we did spend the whole morning in the beach so we were full and pretty tired by the time the cruise came up so that didn't help much. I wish I knew how to upload the video I got of the 2 dolphins, that was fun.

thanks for sharing your photos. I am not sure what I had pictured...I may be rethinking this one!

I would, I thought it would be more like the ones advertised by the other excursion companies which seemed more like an onboard party type, this was not. I would save the money for something else, the banana boat thing looked really fun and just being at beach on CC was more fun. Spend the money on drinks on the beach, you won't regret that! We rented the floating mats and just watching my DSis trying to get on the mat was more fun. :lmao: The whole beach got involved in trying to get her on the mat, she was mortified but she laughed it off, she was a good sport about it. On the way home in the DCL bus a man tapped her on the shoulder and asked her if she was ever able to get on the mat, she just laughed and called me to tell me about it. CC is much more active than this cruise, jmho! :thumbsup2

It will be a party boat with the 12/9 cruisers onboard.... :lmao:

Thanks for the review.... :thumbsup2

I started having problems with snapfish not posting on the DIS a couple months ago. I now use photobucket.com. Looking forward to seeing your pictures. We have over 55 DISers booked on the Friday DD cruise next month. :)

I think that we will be able to have a great time no matter where we are. :thumbsup2 I did see a bar there, Vanessa, as well as places where we could tie our pirate flags up. pirate: Like I told you guys on our thread, they will rename the excursion after we are on it. :cool1: :thumbsup2
