Castaway Cay Cabana Limit Question

After several weeks of trying, I was lucky enough to reserve a cabana on the family beach. We have had a cabana one time before and I know the it includes 6 people; however, you can pay extra (per person) to include up to 4 more people for a total of 10. This time our extended party includes 12 people (mix of kids and adults). I am aware of the Grand Cabana option; however, it is already booked so I'm trying to figure what options I might have. I am going to try to get an additional cabana, but I know that is a long shot. I'm also considering staying back with one of my family members and letting everyone else enjoy the cabana or splitting people up, if I can get a cabana on the Serenity Bay.

Does any have any experience with trying to exceed that overall 10 person limit? Or know if Disney will allow you to exceed it by 1 or 2 people. Thanks in advance.

No, maximum for the cabanas, except for the Grand Cabana, is 10. DCL will only issue a maximum of 10 wristbands for each cabana. And, I believe, that includes infants.

Thanks so much PrincessShmoo. I figured that was the case but thought it never hurts to ask. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that I find a solution.

Another question...if your group has a cabana on SB and the Family Beach can the adults wander back and forth between the two cabanas?

Each location has it's own wristband. I'm not sure that a Serenity Bay wristband will allow entrance to the Family Beach cabanas, and vice versa. I could be wrong.

What ended up happens with your party? We are in this predicament with 11 people

We haven't cruised yet but I can let you know what occurred when we return. At this time we have a cabana on the FB and one on SB. I have been checking multiple times per day to see if I can get another cabana on the FB, but so far no luck. I did call DCL to ask them about the limit and if the adults could go back and forth between SB and FB cabanas. There are no exceptions to the 10 person limit and the CM really tried to get me a definite answer on the adults going back and forth but could not; she also checked to see if the Grand Cabana was definitely booked (which it is). I was told my best option is to talk to the CMs at Port Excursions desk when we board the ship to see what if any accommodations they can make and express interest in the grand cabana. So for now we are planning to split up the group between the SB and FB and talk to the CM at the Port Excursions when we board.

You could try checking with a roll call for your cruise and find out if others are going who have a cabana with extra spaces available that you could pay for. All you really need is the wristband - your family can then hang out with you by your own cabana.

Also, FWIW, we had the grand cabana on our last trip and I think out of 11 of us, only 3 or 4 were even wearing their wristbands at all for the entire day. We had them on the table in case they were needed, but no one ever even asked.

I had no luck obtaining another FB cabana before the trip so when we boarded I went to Guest Services and explained the situation (the Port Excursions desk was not open and directed everyone to the GS desk). I told the CM about my situation and she confirmed that there is a 10 person limit in the FB cabanas regardless of age. She also told me that the FB cabanas are handled by the concierge staff and the SB cabanas by the island staff so there was no way to "share access." She inquired with concierge about the Grand Cabana and it was booked (apparently sometimes they place it on hold); however, she told me she would put us on the wait list for another FB cabana and speak to the concierge about our situation. Several hours later the concierge called us and offered us another FB cabana. So we cancelled the SB cabana and had use of FB cabanas 17 and 20. It worked out great - we assigned 6 people to each one but went back and forth as we wished.
