Castaway Cay Cabana Info

I was in Cabana 18 on February 3rd, and couldn't see any jellyfish. As mentioned above though, there are lots of shells, so watch you feet (or wear water shoes).

Do you have any pictures you could share? We have this one reserved. Also can you comment in general about 18 and locale to stuff and anything else you would like to share would be great

How are the cabanas on the adults only beach?

I like them a lot, but the host is virtually non-existent. We've never had one answer the page, I've never had one come by to get drink orders and I've only had them offer me a ride once. If you are expecting a decent host experience from the SB cabanas, you will be very, very disappointed.

We really loved the location. Water is shallow (deepest it gets is 4-5 ft), which was great for our kids.

Very private, since it's near the end of the cabana beach.

There is a washroom between cabanas 15 and 16, so the walk is only about 1 minute.

Walk to cookies too is less than 5 minutes, so that was great too. If you had someone with mobility issues, you may want a lift though.

Cabana hosts were meh. Our neighbors both tried using the button, but got no response. They were walking around around 3:30 to start organizing rides back to the tram.

They had a pack and play already set up in the cabana though, which was terrific (I hate putting those things together!).

Thank you @rwthompson82!! Your pictures are getting me more excited. I was a little reticent before and had thought of canceling. Disappointing about the cabana hosts. I was looking forward to ordering my drinks with that thing :)

There are a few people roaming the beach taking drink orders, no need to worry!

The reviews of the Cabana hosts have been quite mixed recently, but I found you really don't need them. I think if they used wave phones instead of the buzz system it would be better.

Another note, the pre recorded message on the tram has not been updated, and it says the pelican point is for cabanas 1-17 (it is now 1-21). No big deal since you have to get off anyway, but definitely a miss by DCL.

We just had 21 this last cruise. It was a little slice of heaven. Everything is a quick walk away. We didn't really use the hosts.

I'll post pictures once I manage to get my camera or if the bags

We will be there in April. Once our window opened could only reserve a family cabana. We check everyday to see if one on the adult beach becomes open. We loved our cabana we had last year.

We have one rented for this coming week. I was told a Cabana person will be available to drive you to and from locations on the island such as Cookies 1&2 for food. They also give you free floaties for everyone in the Cabana along with free bike rental for everyone for up to a hour and also free snorkel equipment for everyone.

They stock a mini fridge with soda and water and have granola bars and chips available in your cabana. You can also order up a alcoholic package ahead of time if you wish. There is a safe in each cabana along with a outdoor shower and hammock. A ceiling fan is also in each cabana and they supply sunscreen too.

How do you order beer ahead of time?

Out of 12 cruises, we have booked a cabana just one time. I was traveling with just my Mom and she has a hard time walking on sand and being out in the full sun. We were one of the first off the ship and one of the last back on. The only cabana available for us (platinum) was on Serenity Bay, which was fine. We both really enjoyed the day. I spent about an hour in the water, but my Mom spent the entire time in the cabana. Our cabana host was also non existent after he dropped us off. We decided not to return to the ship until he showed up to take us in the golf cart, which he finally did. Was the cabana worth the extra cost? Upon reflection, Probably not.

I do worry about all the first time cruisers (other than concierge) who read these boards and decide they want a cabana. Although not impossible, the odds are very very low that you will be able to reserve one. You will have a wonderful time on Castaway Cay without a cabana!!!

Thank you. Now I just hope I can get one. I am not concierge but am Platinum so we will see........

Good luck. Saturday night was our window to make reservations and my first time as platinum. I logged in right at midnight and all FB cabanas are already gone. There were three on SB, but every time I tried to select one, it told me they weren't available. And each click of the mouse is excruciatingly slow. Thank goodness for my wonderful TA. She happened to be up and tried and succeeded where I failed. As someone said later in this thread, I feel sorry for first timers.
