Is it necessary or even possible to reserve snorkeling equipment, floats, tubes etc...for Castaway Cay prior to the cruise? Or is this an issue that you take care of as you disembark at Castaway Cay. My kids are really looking forward to snorkeling and I'd hate to think that they run out of snorkeling equipment if you didn't reserve it.
Any comments ???

Thanks.

You can reserve snorkel equipment and tubes in advance. Here's the info right from DCL's web site. :)

Snorkel Lagoon Equipment Rental (All day)

Discover species and creatures of the ocean in our environmentally friendly snorkel lagoon. Pick up your gear at Gil's Fins and Boats and make your way to the educational area, where you can learn more about our 12-acre snorkel lagoon. In the water, you can follow the Discover Trail (for beginners) or the Explorer Trail (for more advanced swimmers). Your all-day equipment rental allows you to enter and exit the water as many times as you like. It's a great first-time snorkel experience.

Snorkel, mask, fins and vest included. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Adult Price: $25 (ages 10 and above)
Child Price: $10 (ages 5-9)

Float/Tube Rentals (All Day)

Bob in the gently rolling waves on a float or inner tube, available for rent by the day.

Children under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Adult Price: $6
Child Price: $6 (ages 5 and above)

I don't think that they run out of floats. Probably don't run out of snorkel equipement either. Maybe some of the more "extreme" sizes (the very large and the very small).

When I rent snorkeling equipment I have to tell them to give me Goofy's flippers. They don't believe me and just give me a large pair. After I show them that they don't fit the give me the "Goofy Sized" flippers (yea, I have Huge Feet).

I'm thinking of buying the snorkel gear I saw at Sam's Club. It's 40.00. I am wondering about lugging it around though. I'm not sure if I want to do that or just rent stuff.

I did buy the $40 snorkling equip, from Costo (like sam's) for my son (17), and what did he do but the very next time I wasn't in a good mood he went and put everything on (flippers, snorkle and mask) while he was wearing his jeans and t-shirt..had me rolling and falling off the couch :rotfl: . I did go back and forth about this but since I live in FL and Disney only sterilizes the snorkle :sad2: (and not replaces it like Discovery Cove), I opted to spend the extra $15 and let my son lug it all around. Good luck on your choice!!
