Thanks! Its under on board fun. The screen shot helped. I was looking at Port Adventures not on board fun. Great!
I recently signed up for the CC 5K for our next three cruises, starting tomorrow and then b2b in January. It’s under on-board fun for the CC day. Starting time was indicated as 8:50 am for all three events. As far as I know, you can't sign up for the CC5K until you're on the ship. Just stop by Guest Services any time before Castaway Cay day -- it doesn't have be part of the mad rush on boarding day.
The minimum age to officially participate (have a bib and get a medal) is 10, but younger kids can run if they want to. It's a very laid-back event.
There is a once-a-year runDisney race on Castaway Cay as part of the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend, which requires advance registration. The typical races, though, don't require advance planning.
I think I saw somewhere that you can pre-sign up for the CC5K (as in before you get on the ship). I don't remember if that is true or not. Can someone let me know?
Apparently it’s a new route now also
That runway kills it for me. Brutal!Heard this as well. Curious as to what it might be. After running this many times, we skipped it last cruise. A new route may get me to go back to running it.

The procesure described here was in place yesterday for the “CC5K” for the Fantasy sailing that we just completed this morning. I was disappointed that the new route was nearly 1/4-mile short, even shorter than the old route. Had I known this in advance, I would have continued down the bike path/road behind the Serenity Bay beach for another 100 m or so to stretch it out, since the turn around point was not near the end of the pavement. I wonder if the CMs who set up the course have a clue as to where it should actually be to get the right distance. The route has indeed changed - but not all that much. The 'start line' has been moved onto the runway itself (though the clock is only at the finish - so if you want an accurate time you need to handle that yourself). There is only one loop of the bike path instead of two. When you exit the loop you still take a right and go down the runway, but instead of turning around at the end of the runway you turn right and head down the road that goes alongside Serenity Bay beach. I found that section to be nice & shady with a decent breeze - though you can't actually see the beach or water. Finish line is still in the same place.
Another big difference is that there is no longer a meeting on the ship the morning of the race. There was a meeting the day before where everyone signed waivers and got their race numbers, and people were told to get off the ship on their own and meet at the bike rental place at 9 am. They also had a series of staggered starts instead of one mass start to accomodate the people who weren't there exactly at 9. So one group would go off right at 9, another at about 9:05 and so on. If I'm not mistaken the first group started even before 9 sharp so if it's important for you to be 'first' - get there early. Likewise, if you don't want to bother feeling rushed or have other priorities that prevent you from being "on time" you certainly won't risk missing out - I saw people starting at 10 and the clock kept going well after that.
The "sign-up" on the app or at guest services seemed to be just a formality. The important part (if you wanted a bib and medal) was completing and handing in the waiver.
Note that even the new course is still somewhat short. I ran the loop twice and my GPS measured it as 4.6 km both times (the 'old' route was actually a little longer at 4.8k). Also - there are a lot of publicly available views of the route available on sites like Strava and Garmin.
