Cast Member DVC Discount

It was always 15% for CMs; sometimes it would be higher during special incentive periods I think.

It used to irk us long time CMS, but I will admit here that the DVC discount used to apply even to seasonal "Casual" CMs. (We used to think it should be after a year or working there, but that is not what DVC thought, lol). Also, the discount used to be fairly generously available to relatives. (immediate family, and also in laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, step siblings, etc). You were not eligible for the referral awards, however, I rememer that. (we had a CM that was put in as the referral for 2 others, and was told no to the awards)

All this could be different now, but my info is based up on how it was right before the sale of the stores. While the stores were not Disney owned, I do not think the discount was available to DS employees.

I do not remember any restriction on the sale of points later. My points that I have now were purchased with my CM discount. (I had OKW, purchased before I became a CM, and sold those to buy BCV points with my CM discount).

I thought all CM discounts were going away? Is this true or are CM still able to get a 15% discount?

I just need to point out:

Assuming this CM discount is applied to the rack rate ($104) and cannot be used inconjunction with other incentives such as the ($8) off and such, anyone can basically get a DVC contract for approximately the CM discounted price. By my calculations, based on a $104 "price" a 25% discount would be $78 and a 15% discount would be about $88 per point.

There are plenty of DVC contracts available on the resale market in this price range.

When we bought in my husband worked for the Disney catalog. We bought DVC in July 2005. The discounts were as follows:

WDW Cast Members got 25% discount

All other Cast Members from the Walt Disney COMPANY (to include stores, catalog, espn, etc) got 15% discount

We had to fax a copy of his CM ID to DVC finance department.
