Cast Member Discount and DDP

I am hoping to use a friend's CM discount on my resort room for our trip in December. I also want to book a DDP with this reservation. I've heard that you can only book the DDP when using a CM discount under certain circumstances. Can someone please tell me if this is true and, if so, what they are?

I've heard that the CMs are only offered the DDP during select times of the year, so depending on whether it is offered or not would matter.

I have a quick question about CM room discounts. If my CM friend books a room for me, and I pay the deposit, and then he gets laid off or finds other work, would I lose the discount? Would I have to provide a current Disney CM number at check in? Or does that only apply to CMs staying in rooms?

any time i've stayed in a CM discounted room, the CM has had to go over to the resort and show ID sometime before we arrive (maybe within a week of our arrival?), and he has never stayed in the room with us. not sure what would happen if the CM was no longer a CM and could no longer provide that ID prior to your arrival. i also believe that it must be the same CM who the room is booked under who goes and provides that proof of ID. ie, can't book with CM Sally and have CM Billy go over to provide ID.

As for the dining question, right now the dining plan is only being offered to CM's thru the end of October.....no word on December at this point. My son is there on the College Program and booked us for 11 days in early December. I can't answer on the CM that reserved the room, if they are no longer a Disney employee....my guess is the room would revert back to the rack rate or possibly be cancelled (but I would think the ex-CM would need to do that.....since it is in their name and they could be charged for it on a no-show)

Right now the current promotion is through Oct 20 and gives friends/family 50% off and QS DDP for 17.99 per person per day (CM in room is 60% off and regular DDP for 29.99). Usually you are able to get the regular DDP for friends/family when that's offered but not for this promotion (first time I've ever seen that). It's possible they will extend it or come up with a new promotion for Nov/Dec but that probably won't be out till the first of Oct. The CM can try and call to add on the added discount and DDP (if it's part of the promotion) but sometimes they have to cancel and rebook the room which might cause you to lose the current resort you have booked. Other times the CM has been able to just apply the discount so you never know!!!
