Cast member dining discounts

Do you know if its for that cast member exclusively, or for the whole check? I also heard that its mostly quick dining?

For the whole check and its mostly NOT quick dining -- many of those are not part of the program. There are some quick dining but its mostly sit down.

20% at quick services in the resorts only
20% with a 18% automatic grautity at any table service. It's available at most places in the parks and resorts. But not available for dinner packages (candlelight or fantasmic), and some signature restaurants.

My BIL is a cast member; I know that at certain times of year he gets the dining plans dirt cheap, like maybe a 50% discount?!

That's only around the holidays and only for two meals. You get one coupon for 50% off at an in park restaurant and one for a participating restaurant.

Just an FYI, but Castmembers are not supposed to discuss their discounts. While I realize the OP is not a CM, it's best to ask the CM who will be assisting you as to what their discounts include, where, how much, etc. As with any type of Disney discount offer, things are subject to change too, so best to find out what the current offer would be so you have accurate info.---Kathy

well i'm no longer a CM, so i don't feel the need to uphold every secret. And many things are discussed more than they should be in certain topics. And dining discount is one of the few sharable discounts. Meaning that as long as the cast member is present at the table any one can pay for the meal. But the discount only applies up to the number of people on the maingate (which is generally 3 additional people). Merchandise can only be bought by the cast member for the cast member, they may however gift you the item.

BTW, the holiday celebration discount has changed. It's no longer the two coupons.

And there are plenty of blockout dates too. If you want a discount on your food, you might want to look into tables in wonderland card, there are no blockouts, no limits on where it can be used, or automatic gratuities. It's a lot more verstile than a castmember. And if there are lmits, it's a lot less limited than the CM discount.

back when all star cafe was opened, they had a promo for 50% all food and drinks. It ran from when I started in 06 till it closed. It was to help get people to go over there when nothing was going. I used to pick up dinner for like 10 bucks and order a drink while i was waiting for my dinner, not to mention play a round of buzztime. I hate the new quick service cafe.

I find it is worth buying the Tables in Wonderland Card. I do not have to worry about blockout dates or time restrictions or the number of people. And TiW does also cover alcoholic beverages, which the Cast Discount does not.

My ex FIL is an executive with ESPN and his discount is 40% off food.

Can't tell you how sad I was to lose that discount, I miss the FIL more than the ex husband!

LOL... That's a good discount.

Around here in my family the ex inlaws manage to stay part of the family. Even when the ex dissappears from the picture.

I was under the impression with a TiW card there was an automatic 18% gratuity at all TS places. :confused3 No?

I've never read anything about automatic gratuity with TIW. And it's something they promote to cast members as well, so it's gotta be better than the cast discount. I know there's no gratuity or blockouts when it comes to the annual pass discount. I was able to use my AP discount thanksgiving day when I couldn't use my CM discount.
I've heard a lot of good thing about TIW and worth the cost, especially if you love sit downs.
