Does anyone happen to know if cast members get a dining discount, and if so, what percentage it is?
Thanks!
Heather W

When I worked at The Disney Store, and while it was still owned by The Disney Company, CM's got 20% off food (sit-down restaurants and Animal Kingdom counter service) and merchandise if they had been there less than 3 years, and 35% if they had worked for the company 3+ years.

20% but the rezzies must be after 8:30 p.m I think it is???

I don't recall a time restriction on dining, but then it's been almost 2 years since TDS was part of the Disney empire.

Hmmm... That is interesting - thank you! I've also read that you can use the cast member pass to get Fastpasses at DL, but not at WDW... Strange....
Cheers!

a time they must make the reservations after...and I am pretty sure it is 8:30. I know because it's kind of late for my palette! The discount of course does not extend to liquor..

Since most parks close around 9, if not before - that doesn't give you much time to eat! There were no time restrictions when I used my CM discount in 2003 and 2004...sometimes dining at lunchtime. I know I used it for dinner at the Crystal Palace and it was before 8:30. Could be that they added the restrictions more recently.

The discount is 20%, but an 18% gratuity is automatically added so basically what you're saving is the *tip*.

At the resorts M-Th there is no time restriction ~~ F-S-S the discount applies to seatings after 8:30.

At MK the discount applies after 8:30.
At Epcot, MGM and AK the discount applies before 6pm and then again after 8:30.

There are also specific days throughout the year (holidays, etc) when no discount applies. This is the case for CMs now with the 'free dining' promo--no discount.

I can't say I know the 'ins and outs' that well..we were visiting our daughter a few weeks ago during the free dining promo and we got the discount?? I am heading back next week and we have a few rezzies and were told the discount appiles? ABout the only place we didn't get it was at CG but then, I kind of expected that.

Either way, it's a nice perk when it comes! My DD is in the College Program and the way I see it...for the brief time she is there they really are nice to extend anything! :thumbsup2

From what I remember being a CM at TDS back in the day, certain times of year you could get it anytime, other times of year were blacked out. We just always asked everywhere. I miss being a CM... :guilty:
Perhaps when Im retired DH and I will go and move to FLA..

The 'free dining' promo just started a few days ago ~~

During the 'free dining' period CMs do not get their usual discount. Possibly when your ADRs were made this policy wasn't yet common knowledge.

Just wanted to let you know that WDW cast does get to use fastpasses using their IDs. I have never had a problem with it.

As far as dining during the "free dining", you can only use any unused 50% discount from the holiday celebration.

Thank you! You've all been so helpful :)
Cheers!
