It's been a few years since we used the DDP and I am just trying to figure out how much cash I need to take with me. My question is when the check comes can we charge the extras (i.e. appitizer if ordered, etc) and the tip to our room or use a gift card or both? Or must we use cash for these type items?
Thanks to all for your help.

After DDP entitlements are taken care of, you can pay for any outstanding charges with any means the restaurant will normally accept (cash, credit card, room charge, gift card, etc.).

If traveling with children, a common suggestion is to "pay" for meals with a child's card that doesn't have room charging on it, to ensure that only DDP credits are used, and then use an adult's card for charging other things back to the room.

thanks Faldred....great idea to pay with child's card and I couldn't agree more...eat dessert first!
