Cash Ressie??

MIL & FIL would like to stay in BCV for a few nights while we are there. They want a studio. Am I able to call MS and make a cash ressie for them? Is it still 25% off the rack rate? Never did this before....thanks!

Availability is unknown for any given time unless you call MS. Sometimes there will be something, and sometimes not, and sometimes only for specific nights.

Unless you will be staying in the room with them the member discount won't be applied and you'll need to pay rack rate for their stay. The 25% discount (when available) is only for DVC members staying in the room.

You cannot reserve a room with the 25% member cash discount for anyone except yourself. THh member must be staying in the room to get the discount.

To get the member discount the member has to be staying in the room.
That's what MS told me when I tried to book a room.

Just checking back on this thread here this morning.

I actually booked the room through MS yesterday afternoon and got the 25% discount. MS asked for the names of MIL & FIL and knew that while we would be at BCV, we would not be in the room w/ them. I gave my MIL's credit card number to hold the ressie. Not sure how that happened if everyone here seems to think that this is not allowed. I did it though so who knows...

Maybe you got lucky (not all CMs are perfectly trained) - or maybe the CM just figured since you were there, it was OK. You could just as well have put your name on the cash ressie and taken it off the other ressie. No one would be checking who sleeps where, I'm sure, LOL.

The CM that I dealt with was certainly not trained very well in the "friendliness" department so it could be quite possible that she just didn't know what the procedure for cash reservations was either. I've never encountered such a miserable CM. But, I can't complain because I accomplished what I was trying to do!

Subject to availability, members may reserve a DVC unit with cash and get a 25% discount from the rack rate. The 11.5 % tax applies.

Rooms for cash are only availble if DVC determines that not all of the rooms in the points inventory will be reserved by members for points. Friday and Saturday nights seem to be available more often than weekday nights. Sometimes, more rooms become available for a cash discount as the date approaches.

MS/DVC does not announce availability for cash - you have to call and ask.
