Cash Ressie - discount? - when you pay?

Ok...if the search function actually worked (regardless to 'skin' ) I'm sure I wouldn't need to ask....but.....

I you have a points ressie and want to add some nights ( 4 months out, non home resort ) should you be able to get a discounted ressie?...or, at least be able to via MS, book it at rack cash rates???.....and in either case, when to you pay if booking via MS? upon check-in??

If discounted rates are available, you just link them with your point reservation. You pay when you check in.

You pay at check-in but you have to leave a credit card guarantee. If you cancel within 5 days you will be charged one night.
