Cash Reservations?

I called up Hilton Head yesterday to check on some dates and the subject of a "cash reservation" came up. Have any of you done this and what are the general rules?

From what I could gather, a cash reservation for members gets you 50% off "rack" rates for the resort, subject to availability of the rooms.

Does this work at all DVC resorts? At any other WDW resorts?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

The Member's discount is 25% off the rack rate. It is not always available and is rarely available 11 months ahead anymore.

The discount is only at DVC resorts. MS can't book cash reservations at non-DVC resorts- with or without a discount. Those must be booked thru Disney.

Availability for the discount comes from member's inventory- the rooms available for point reservations. MS will usually suggest calling back "in a few months" if yo inquire at 11 months for many dates. Once you have the cash night reserved, the discount will be applied if it later becomes available. We've had that experience at HH several times.

Do you think they had something special going on for Hilton head to offer a 50% off rack rate? Guess it was safe to offer when there were no rooms available at that rate.

This discount is good at "all" DVC resorts?
