What is the dvc discount for cash reservations at the BWV? I was thinking about renting points for a studio for a guest, but I don't know if I want to deal with that.

The situation is that I have a family member planning to join us next fall, but she's not certain she'll be able to go. I'd love to have her stay in a 2BR with us (normally our family of 4 gets the 1BR). I don't want to get stuck with a 2BR if she backs out, so I'm trying to find the lowest risk reservation situation for her/us. I don't have enough points to get the studio / 1BR separately and I'm not willing to borrow for it.

Cash discounts are not offered at all times--only when room inventory seems to dictate that DVC will be unable to rent all rooms on points. Also, the rules stipulate that the member must be staying in the room in order to get the discount. So technically the room will have to be in your name, and you cannot get more than one room at a time on the discount.

Guests staying on this member discount are treated the same as members staying on points. In other words, there is no daily housekeeping.

You would probably do better financially if discount codes are offered on the room. However you won't know for several months whether discounts will be offered, you may need an AP to get the best rate, and availability is certain to be VERY limited at the DVC resorts.
