cash reservations-- any discounts?

I may want to add on two nights to a June reservation and thinking of paying cash. Since it's only just over 2 mos. away I'm thinking our resort options may be better if we just pay cash. (adding on to AKLV trip)

Are there any discounts for DVC members...either at a DVC or non-DVC property. I'd like try for anything in the Epcot area. In a pinch I could end up at the dolphin/swan with the teacher discount---but then I'll loose my return ME transportation.

Thanks.

If you're a member of DVC there is a 25% discount on rack rate for rooms @ DVC resorts and maybe others, but def. DVC resorts. Call MS and book thru them. We added 2 nights cash at OKW for our stay, weekend nights to save points! :cool1:

DVC members only get discounts on DVC villas. And the 25% discount is not always available.

We got the discount over Easter weekend, so I'm sure it is ALMOST always available since that is the busiest time--perhaps Christmas is another story--call and ask.

No, it's not always available. You have to ask and you might not get it.

The 25% discount is "subject to availability." There is apparently a quota at each resort per night. Once they've offered a certain number of rooms at the discounted rate for a date, the discount is no longer available.

Thanks for the info (I've gone through the Member Guide and all over the DVC site and and couldn't find any info about it). I'll call MS when I narrow down my details.

If you are an annual passholder, there may be some good passholder discounts on cash rooms. But they are seasonal, so they may not be available for your travel dates.

You might want to try waitlisting for the resort you're alreadly in through MS and doing a member discounted cash reservation at the same time.
You can waitlist for up to 7 days before arrival and I think you have until 5 days before arrival to cancell a cash reservation. Not exactly sure how that works if you're cancelling a DVC member discounted room but I know if it's an Annual Pass reservation you have the 5 day window.

The last time I did a cash reservation the Annual Pass rate through CRO was cheaper. Sometimes having an A/P will pay for itself in a night if you have to get a cash room, but then you have to get the use of that A/P now burning a hole in your pocket.:rolleyes1
