Cash Night Availability?

I just booked 5 nights at the BWV for September. I got a one bedroom standard view. I'm hoping to get the Friday night on the cash rate, but MS said their are no cash rooms available now. Anyone know if they will release more rooms into the cash pool? I don't have enough points to cover the extra night without borrowing.

I asked MS if it's possible that cash rooms will become available and she said yes. Maybe closer to the date?

Just wondering if anyone had experience with this.

Rooms are only made available at the 25% member discount only when DVC projects that the resort will not be full of members using points. If historical demand shows that members will fill those units by using their points, they will not release any for the cash discount.

The member cash discount is pretty much a last-ditch effort to fill a room rather than let it sit empty. But the emphasis remains on letting members use the DVC points that they purchased.

Your experience suggests that, right now, DVC isn't projecting any One Bedroom SV vacancies for the date in question. This would be based upon historical booking trends combined with the reservation data on file now. If the actual experience falls behind historical trends, they may still open up rooms for the cash discount. But there is absolutely no way of knowing when or if that will happen. You would simply have to keep calling.

Weekends are a good period to try and get the cash discount (at least thru 2009), but I have heard that the BoardWalk Standard View and BW View rooms are never available for cash--points only.

I guess since there are so few standard view, that makes sense that there would not be cash nights available.

An alternative would be to borrow the points from next year, and then try to get the cash discount in a "more likely" room category/resort NEXT year to cover the points you borrowed.

That's a good idea too. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a relatively new member and still figuring all the ins and outs of the system out.

I didn't think standard view was available for cash. Only preferred, non-BW view rooms.
