Cash Machines

Is it possible to use cards at cash machines in Orlando and in the parks, if they have the Maestro, Cirrus or Switch symbol?
Mine has all three, will i be able to withdraw cash while i'm out there?

Usually you can withdraw cash from US ATM's but you should check with your bank before going. It used to be the case that the bank here had to clear your account/card before it could be used to access your account. Maybe that's no longer the case but, IMHO you lose nothing by calling your bank just to be sure

If your card has the cirrus logo then you can withdraw from machines that allow cards with these logos - we've used our cashline card for our savings account with the Royal Bank of Scotland Card with no trouble in the past - but I can't remember which machines we used!

Can't remember if we paid a charge for this though - maybe someone else will know?

Yes, Becky, you can......just look out for the Visa/Master Card logos

Cirrus cards are fine in the US but two years ago we had problems with using Switch cards at ATM's. Some would take MIL's card and some wouldn't. Not sure about Maestro though.

Also Walmart required us to punch in a pin number when paying with our direct debit Visa card. Good job DH could remember it - he never uses his for cash (just 'borrows' it off me. )

Watch out though.

Most ATMs in the States charge $1 to $2 per withdrawal so it's expensive to get small amounts of cash this way.

I use the ATMs at Publix which don't charge and I'm sure there are other free ATMs around.
