i called to inquire about the Member's cash discount rate availability at BWV today, and even though there was availability, the MS CM had trouble booking the cash discount rate for my dates.

we were both confused about it, and she couldn't figure it out so, i ended up not booking it.

for anyone who books cash rooms through CRO, you know how if you arrive on the last day of Value season, but the rest of your stay extends through Regular/Peak/Holiday season, you still get to pay the Value season rates?

i.e. if you arrive on Dec 19th, and stay for 2 nights, even though Dec 20th is technically in Holiday season, you still only pay the Value season rates for both nights because you checked in on Dec 19th.

well, anyway, the MS CM said she was unable to do that in the MS computer.
if she booked Dec 19th + Dec 20th as one continuous ressie, the rate could only be rack rate, and the rate would be different for each night.
also, she said because the computer can't book the discount to span seasons, the only way she could book the Member's cash discount for both nights would be as two separate reservation#s, each w/ its own discount rate.

has anyone experienced this also?
is this really the case?
or should i call back to ask again, in the hopes another CM might know a way around this?

TIA for your help.

I didn't think you could book a cash reservation until you were less than 60 days from your date. Cash reservations are only supposed to be offered if members haven't requested the dates using points. And since you are looking for Dec, there may be members still trying to request those days.

Or have I totally misunderstood the question????

i was originally under that impression as well (no cash avail until 60 days out) but apparently MS does sometimes have some Member Discount cash inventory this far out.

i believe if enough Members traded out (something like that), then there is cash inventory. i don't understand the specific underlying workings of how cash inventory comes about, but my question is not related to that.

i am asking if anyone has ever booked a room through MS as a cash reservation for dates that span two cash seasons.
thanks.

The member discounted rooms come from points inventory, not cash inventory. I booked mine a little over 60 days before in March. They only will book it if they anticipate it will not be used for points. Mine was May 9 & 10, so it was all regular season. It was a Friday & Saturday, so I don't think they expected all the points rooms to be taken. I don't know if the money goes into breakage income or not.

It is possible that since DVC Members will pay different point prices according to season, that the DVC Cash Discount may also vary by season.

I am traveling end of November thru beginning of December and are paying different nightly point rates as Thanksgiving is high season. I would assume to pay more on a cash basis, if I were booking this thru MS as well.

Let us know how you make out...

I did not know that CRO let you keep the same rate when the dates span seasons. I still doubt this is the case when it spans the regular WDW seasons which are different that the DVC seasons. I would not expect, nor want, DVC to give out a room at a huge discount simply because of a technicality. Remember the money here pays for things like DCL cruises and the less cash they get, the more points it will cost for those exchanges. 25% with no housekeeping is a fair discount (based on rack rate for the night in question) and I suspect gives more cash than DVC would get in pocket for renting that same room through CRO for rack rates.
