Cash back for Disneyland gift cards under $10?

I’ve read in several places that it’s CA state law that if there is less than $10 on a gift card, the retailer has to give you cash back. Has anyone done this in Disneyland? If so, do you have to request the cash back or is it automatic? If it’s something you have to request, is there any objection from the retailer?

Well if it's the law, they broke it last time I was there. I have a giftcard with $2.76 on it right now from when I was at DLR last year. They wouldn't give me the cash back on it, even when I asked. Kind of frustrating carrying around a card with less than $3, but it wasn't worth an argument or asking for a manager. Maybe if I had they would have given me the difference.. can't say for sure.
