Since I'm on the ddp and have my room key. Which I can charge tip.to the room. Would i need to bring cash with me if so what would I need it for? What is cash only?

In my experience we only carried our room keys (KTW) with us. It was our ticket, our food and we had our credit card linked to it. That way we only had one transaction on our credit card that needed to have the exchange rate and bank charge. I think you can check your statement regularly at the front desk to make sure that there aren't any errors.

No need for cash!

I'm bringing cash for Tips. I usually bring Disney Dollars for my kids to spend, but since you can't get those at the Disney Store anymore; I'm hoping to get some for DD when we're down there so she can have some spending money. :)

The funnel cake vendor at EPCOT (America pavilion) is cash only. I went once with no cash (I thought I could use my KTTW card), but the guy was so nice he gave me one for free. One of my favorite Disney memories! That is the only place I've come across that is cash only. It was several years ago, so it may take cards now.

I have heard that there are a few around that only accept cash, so I carry some cash with me just in case, tho not much. Best to be safe rather than sorry. Tho I suspect some more experience Disney vetern will be able to tell you exactly who does and does not accept the KTTW.

also: I do the DDP so I carry cash for my tips use my KTTW only for DDP and get all my snack credits as gifts for the folks back home as a rule. I carry water into the parks and fill up at the fountains, and during lunch. Pay cash if I get a snack usually, but rarely snack in the parks. If I am to purchase anything, I use cash, this keeps my spending in control.

carry a 20 in the parks. I have had a couple of times where the card reader was down at carts.

Sometimes the magnetic strip room keys go crazy, better to have a little cash on hand just in case. I usually take in $20, but rarely use it.

The DDP doesn't include tips, so you'll need cash at table service meals for tipping.

I always have cash on me. I have never linked my credit card to my KTTW. I personally find that I can better keep track of my spending if using cash than if I charge everything to my key.

So that I don't overspend, I usually have a set amount that I carry with me everyday (about $70-100) for tips, beverages if its super hot (I don't like to use my snack credits on water or juice/soda), souvenirs I want to purchase.

We carry cash in case we end up taking a taxi or if we drive & need to tip the valet at a resort.

I usually carry some cash. I don't use the DDP, but I usually also bring my debit card to pay for things rather than using my room key with a credit card charge.

We usually have some cash on us when heading to the parks......maybe $40/$50 between the two of us....but it's been rare that we would use any of it....I would say once or twice in all the years we've been going to WDW and that was most likely at a cart which didn't accept our room key.

Tips can be put on your credit card or room key

You can also use a Disney gift card for tips, right?

I'd carry a little cash. I keep 40 in my bag.

Also, if you want to get souvanier pennies, you will need quarters/pennies for that.

I'll probably carry some cash so I can tip the servers with actual money and not by credit. I hear that if the tip is calculated on the bill they must share it with everyone working that night and the establishment sometimes takes a cut as well.

If they receive their tips in cash it belongs strictly to them. I might be wrong on this but i don't think so. Either way cash it is!

days I waited tables and bartended some. I did work at at least one place that pooled tips, but I don't think it is legal in any state for the restaurant to take a portion of the tips.

I have been to other countries where this supposedly happens but not in the US.

We use gift cards instead of cash. We stockpile them for a few months before our trips (our kids' school sells them as a fundraiser) and just buy a few at a time up until we leave. Then we can just hand the kids each a card to use for fun money each day and it's not a big deal. We never spend cash in the parks unless I"m getting a funnel cake!!
