cash and points... and upgrade?

Has anyone ever paid with cash and points at the Dolphin and then used more points for an upgrade? I was wondering if that would be possible or not? Thanks

I am using cash and points at the Swan in July. I don't have enough points left for anything much. I don't see why you can't use your remaining points for an upgrade if it is available. Perhaps a call to the Dolphin or spg might give you the answer.

I know you can use points to upgrade on a free award night - so I would guess you could on "cash & points" nights. I just read the terms and conditions for the C & P promo on Starwood.com and according to that you can't earn points on those nights and they dont count toward achieving elite status (i.e., gold or platinum) but it says nothing about those nights not being eligible for upgrades.

Sounds like you should be able to upgrade - it all depends on availability. Good luck.

Although I did this in December ( upgrade a cash and points room) a month before my trip. I tried to do it last week for a cash and points reservation I have in July and was told I had to wait until 5 days prior to check-in. So you can do it, you just may have to wait until 5 days prior.
