Cases rising or dropping by you?

yes but the percentage is still hanging around 5%. More testing = more cases identified but not a rise in percent.
5% of the State of Florida would equal 1,075,000 cases with less than 62,000 cases confirmed, I guess a lot more testing is needed.

Gyms and bars just opened up at 50% capacity in Florida, I wonder how that will affect the numbers......never mind the protests with no social distancing.

not the percentage of people in the state, the percentage of positive cases per testing. If you're testing say 30,000 people and get 1,000 postive that's a better percentage than if you're getting 1,000 cases but only testing 10,000 people.

The percentage in IL has dropped significantly in the last 10 days or so. We are now under 5% while 10 days ago we were still seeing 10% or greater. As things open cases are dropping.
Wow, IL as well as GA? Doing nothing and opening up more actually reduces the viral spread.
Maybe that’s what CA governor is hoping for.

Maybe more testing is why IL is also seeing lower percent positive as you mentioned above.

yes it's part of it. Although we've had increased testing for over 3 weeks close to a month now. It's also the fact that people are getting out of their houses more.

Well yeah but if you extrapolate that, you would want every person tested in the state/country due to asymptomatic carriers.

Getting out of the house and into crowded public places will help to lower infections? Makes sense.
Maybe all those protestors will have a lower chance to catch the virus since they’re spending more time outdoors.

Cases are up.....but I think testing has increased. (I hope that is the reason)

You would want every person tested multiple times. In Orange County, Florida I do not believe testing is an issue. I haven't heard any reports of the convention center running out of tests and turning people away.

The thing I find startling about your numbers is the huge percentage of hospitilazed patients that are in ICU. I wonder why that is? Although the numbers here are far smaller, one would expect things to be somewhat proportional. As of today In our province there are 54 people currently in hospital and only 6 are in intensive care. It’s 11% compared to 44% and I really wonder why that situation is so different. :scratchin
Maybe Canada has a lower threshold for admitting patients into the hospital, whereas here they’re sent home to ride out the illness? If mild cases were included in the hospital counts then the percentage requiring ICU care would be lower than if the hospital was only admitting moderate-to-severe cases. I have no idea if this is true, it’s just one explanation I could think of.

People with no symptoms or mild symptoms are not tested. Asymptomatic/mild symptom people can still spread the virus.

I can't speak for all of Florida but at the orange county convention center you do not have to have symptoms to get tested.

Cases in AZ have risen, but testing also dramatically increased since the beginning of May. I am not concerned about it because if it was a serious concern for the state health department, then they wouldn't be re-opening the state.

Total ICU beds available today in AZ = 508
Total ICU beds needed today in AZ = 160

Similar trends in 'hot spot' states like Texas, which the national news has talked a lot about in recent days.

To the moon. We’ll see a spike soon from the protests. This should start hitting this weekend and continue through next week.

Here in Wales in the UK they're dropping, in my region of Hywel Dda they are down to very few cases. Wales is still on a pretty strict lockdown, we don't have the same rules as England, we can only go five miles from our homes for non essential travel. Unfortunately the English have unrestricted travel and think that means they can drive all over here, but, the police are sending anyone from outside Pembrokeshire home and there are some pretty strong fines too.
I think the UK as a whole is on the right track, but, still has a bit of a way to go yet.

They may test people if they want it but how many people without symptoms want to go through the invasive test up the nasal cavity?

According to that logic, I guess the coronavirus is all behind us now. Every state is opening up more and more, meaning nothing to worry about anymore?

Yeah, because the government doesn't have any interest in getting the economy rolling before it collapses.

I would assume a lot since only 5% of people tested are positive in Florida?

Most of those people likely had symptoms but were from other causes. It is not hard to compare how many in the state have been tested compared to how many haven't. CDC guidelines are still telling people not to get tested without multiple symptoms.
