Ok now I may be totally late to the party on this one so just ignore this if I am.

I was always wondering what in the hell they are doing with this building, are they just going to show Snow White in there and eventually let it lose it's luster and have it turn in to the people mover or Hall of presidents and have it be a place where people hang out when it is too hot or something.

BUT according to information cast members gave us no no no no it's not even a theater.
They are turning it into a fine dining restaurant (like Napa Rose fine dining) with 2 bars on either side of it. The place will feature some memoralbilia and might have a couple of screens showing some thing (kind of beats the purpose of fine dining in my opinion if you have tv screens showing things on it).

It just kind of makes it very misleading calling it a theater and it isn't even a theater. All the castmembers just smiled and went "yyyuuuup"
I then asked my friend (a cast member amongst the group who will be anonymous we will call him "Bob" for this)
I asked Bob if there was more to the story behind this and yes but he doesn't know all of it. Apparently the higher ups had a very loud and rather public argument in front of castmembers (not guests as this was backstage). As to the entire direction on Buena Vista street which has caused it to undergo some changes and fall behind. (ironically Cars land is ahead of schedule but they want to open cars land and buena vista street together).
They apparently argued over the whole callling it a theater when it is a restauarant, the fact that small children won't even be allowed in the building due to the two bars on either side of it and this is supposed to be the cornerstone of the whole project and its not going to live up to its promise,
this wasn't the purpose of the building etc.


So if this news of that the Carthay Circle Theater isn't even a theater is old then ignore this and take the argument thing for what it is worth but if it is news then enjoy the tidbit!

I see. There are no children in our party anyway; I was just curious about that part of the OP.

SOme in fact most restaurants that contain a bar on the outer portions of the restaurant cannot have anyone under the age of 21 inside it, they may in fact just declare the whole restaurant as a bar and do it that way.
For example most Applebee restaurants have the bar setuip in the middle and no one under the age of 21 can sit in that middle area but can sit around it
There are other restaurants where it is the opposite the bar is on the outer part with extra seating in the middle, under 21 not allowed
The castmembers did mention with the fine dining atmosphere that under 21 may not be allowed in there.
Isn't that a rule for Napa Rose?

The CCT will be the new park icon for DCA. Like the castle is at DL.

Is it somehow bad to have a restaurant inside the park icon? I dunno. At Epcot they have a ride inside their icon Spaceship Earth. At the new Shanghai Disney their new castle - which looks like it will be the grandest castle of all Disney parks - will have a restaurant.

Is the issue serving alcohol? They do that all over Epcot and DCA has had alcohol service since its inception. Were there disagreements over BVS and CCT? Well, probably. I am sure there were over Disneyland too when it was first built.

So, I guess I am not sure what the issue is here.

When Buena Vista Street was first announced, they said the Carthay Circle Theater was going to have a movie/exhibit about Walt Disney's life/career. It sounded similar to One Man's Dream at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. Then, they changed course completely and said it was going to be an upscale restaurant. I was much happier with the movie/exhibit concept.

No, any age can dine at Napa Rose. The only location with the under 21 rule is Trader Sam's, and that is only after 8pm.

I do not see them making a restaurant under 21, but could be wrong. I know the Lounge 1901 will be allowing children.

That strikes me as something that would be a business decision, not a "law" of sorts. Most bars on Disney property — even those that serve no food at all — allow children inside. I think the chances of Disney disallowing children in a restaurant inside one of its theme parks are miniscule.

You can not sit at the bar at Applebee's (Outback, the like) if you are under 21. You may sit in the tables surrounding the bar area though. We have done it plenty of times with our children.

Depending on the set up, they may do it like Trader Sam's and make it no kids after 8. But if it's a bar in a restaurant, they may not have to.
