We will be having dinner with some friends at Carthay Circle during our trip in November. I just like plain food so the menu is a bit daunting for me, are adults able to order off the kids menu or is that frowned upon. Also is there a dress code or are neat casual park clothes allowed. Thanks :)

No dress code.

I believe they have a hamburger you can order. Last time I had the raviolis which were good. From the WOC menu. That was the summer before last so the menu may have changed. As for ordering off the kids menu, I don't know.

Yes, you can order off the kids menu...BUT, they charge you DOUBLE for the same frigging portion size!...it is a lame policy.

Have you done this? Everything I've heard (but I have not done it myself) is that it's double the price for DOUBLE the portion size.

I know how you feel, georgiesmum.
Very little on their menu sounds good to me.
If I went, I would probably order the burger with a side of mashed potatoes, and hope for a good dessert and cup of coffee.

Sometimes I feel severely underdressed in there, especially when it's warm and I'm in comfortable clothes. Then I realize I'm in DCA still and think "what does anyone expect with a restaurant in a theme park?" But yeah, no dress code.

OP, I was worried about the same thing when we dined there for dinner and my food was amazing! I do admit, that I am not a foodie at all and had to look up some of the ingredients on my phone, LOL! But it was really good. And I second the PP who mentioned the biscuits, they were heavenly! I think their menu is seasonal....

Thanks everyone. I'm confident that I'll be able to find something to eat now and we'll just wear our best 'holiday' clothes. It looks like such a beautiful place, we're looking forward to seeing it.

It's not the same portion size, it's double the price for double the portion. We've ordered this way many times and it is always double the portion.

I've never felt underdressed in any of the restaurants, with the possible exception of Club 33, and we were in nice shirts with cute capris when we ate there. :)

OP I didn't like the biscuits, but I loved my shrimp meal and DD loved her hamburger, we really enjoyed eating there.

They will also make substitutions. I ordered a dessert and I believe it came with blueberries on top. I am not a blueberry fan, but the rest of the dessert sounded delicious. I just asked that they leave it off. The waiter came back, telling me that the pastry chef was concerned about me not liking the blueberries and gave him 3 different fruit options she could substitute for me!

I wanted to but got in an argument on how absurd it was with the server. She was adamant that it was the same portion size for double price. Sounds like SHE was mistaken.

Since I have the palate of a 5 year old, I was concerned about the menu the first time I ate there also. I had it all planned out to order the burger, but was shocked to find that it wasn't on the dinner menu, they only serve it for lunch. That's good news though about ordering off the kids menu. I will definitely do that next time! I LOVED the biscuits!! I could make a meal on them alone!:thumbsup2
