Truthfully I don't want a whole section of a park that focuses so much on a single movie. I like the mix of brands that merge into broader themed areas (swiss family robinson, aladdin, pirates of the caribean, etc... in adventureland for instance).

I really liked Harry Potter World over in universal, but I worry that they are too focused and won't stand the test of time.

Most of the cinderella/princess stuff was already classic long before Disney even made them.

This is a very good point. I'd certainly prefer "Pixar" or "CGI"land (for lack of better terms) to Carsland at DHS and "Ecoland" (again, for lack of better term) over at AK. Cars may bother me less, since it is Disney-Pixar property, but neither would be my ideal choice. Themes are more universal and lasting than single properties. (For example, PotC was a classic before the movie, as was Haunted Mansion (which, considering THAT movie...)) And Fantasyland has such a good mix of classic (and not so classic) movies along with other attractions (isaw, PP, the Carousel, and Philarmagic for examples, they all work together yet are based off completely different backgrounds)

I have a feeling that single property "lands" will likely be the foreseeable future though, thanks to the success of Harry Potter Land (yes, everything is "such and such land" :p)

Cars land. Avatar did one big movie but who knows if it will continue to be popular enough to have a whole land dedicated to it. If disney does this it will be a huge risk. It may be that the second movie is a flop and Disney is stuck with a huge expense creating a land that no one will care about cars on the other hand is a disney movie with a huge following and tons of merchandise so it makes sense

Neither. DL already has Cars Land, I personally don't want to see it repeated at WDW. I would like to see them come up with something new. Avatar is new, but it isn't Disney. Although neither is Star Wars and I'd like to see that presence expanded as it has already withstood the test of time. I guess I should just say that I have no interest in Avatar whatsoever.

Which would you rather see come to Disney World? Let's help Disney with their market research.

Perhaps not a fair question. I voted for Cars land since we have seen how amazingly they did it at DCA and I would love to see that at WDW, however it could be the Avatar land is even more immersive and spectacular.

I'm not optimistic at this point on that happening though.

Yes this poll is super skewed to favor cars land and maybe that was your intent.

Do you happen to work in politics?:goodvibes

I usually don't respond to "snark" but the last time I checked two choices gives each choice a 50/50 chance.

There is no snark (maybe a little) involved and no there is no 50/50 chance since the poll is comparing apples to tomatoes and also we are not flipping a coin here.

If a market researcher actually did this poll, they would be fired. You can't compare something already built and running to something where there has been no real announcement on what it will be. AFTER Avatarland is built you could create a poll where you ask "For people that have been to BOTH, which do think is better for WDW."

While a may have jumped to conclusions on your intent, badly designed and worded polls create bad data.

~QFT! I totally agree! AvatarLand will be fabulous! I can't wait to see what the Imagineers come up with! :yay: :goodvibes

~CarsLand looks awesome, but I'm not sure if there is enough land at DHS, to make it as "grand" as the one at DL.

~Me too, DeaverTex! That's the spirit!!! :goodvibes
Me too!!

Avatar was hugely more popular than Cars in the first iteration of both ($461 million for Cars, $2.782 billion for Avatar), Cars 2 was a huge flop (under $200 million), and we have no proof that the Cars franchise will stand the test of time any better than Avatar, so I disagree with your logic.

I think Avatar will have a wider appeal to non-Disney-obsessed tweens, teens, and adults, so I think it's a wiser investment for Disney Corporation. Personally, and selfishly, my son absolutely loves Cars, so I'd prefer to see that, but looking at the big picture (which is the 300 million potential WDW guests who are NOT on this board) I can see why Avatar is a better investment because it helps them engage an audience that is more underserved than the fans of the Cars franchise. I enjoyed Avatar, as well, and think the message is a good one, so I don't object to it at all.

Lastly, I think it would be nice to see Avatarland because we already have a Carsland, albeit on a different coast, and so Avatarland expands the brand more than just repeating a land that already exists.

Great point gwmort, I agree with you as far as the broader themed area goes. We just seen HP for the first time this year and I believe it can stand the test of time becuase of the volume of books, movies and fans the characters has.

You're right, Avatar land is a big risk if the future movies aren't major hits at the box office like the first one was. Avatar did break all kinds of box office records and does have one of the most successful Directors ever running the show so chances are it will be successful. I'm sure Disney wouldn't throw down if they didn't carefully consider the likelyhood for success. But on the other hand, Cars has run it's course imo. It's played out...I doubt there will be a 3rd Cars movie. I actually think Cafeens suggestion for a Pixar land has way more potential than Cars or Avatar land.

I would rather something be different at WDW then it copying DCA, come on be creative Disney! I don't want to go to WDW and see something that I can see every day at DL.

I don't think Avatarland sounds appealing, but I think they should come up with something different for WDW.

I simply adore Cars, it's one of my absolute favorites. I would love to see a Cars land in Florida.

My favorite line, as said by Mater, "he did what in his cup" :lmao:
