This is going to be our first time back since Cars Land was completed. Anyone have any tips to provide?
Is there FP?
How are the lines these days?
Is there single rider line?
What are the chances of getting on the same car or opposite car if doing single rider line?

How fast does it "really" go?

Thanks!

There is a thread or two here about using the "wide right" approach to getting on RSR first thing in the morning. I've never done it so you can do a search if you are interested.

Yes there are FP's. They are distributed behind Carthay Circle at park opening and how long they last really depends. We were there in Oct/Nov and many days we were able to get them as late as between noon and 1p.m. They could have lasted even longer than that, not sure. We like to ride twice a day, once as single rider and then again after dark with the FP's.

The lines are still pretty long most of the time. Average is about 40-60 min but can go much higher at times...really just depends.

And yes, there is single rider. We love single rider. Occasionally we get in the same car, but most of the time we don't. Doesn't matter to us though. Two adults with no young kids to bring with. Although last visit we had our 12 yr old granddaughter with and she didn't mind SR at all.

Not sure how fast it goes. The racing part is plenty fast for me, lots of fun. It really is a cool ride.

Have you watched any of the youtube videos? They're fun to see when you're needing a Disney fix.

Wide Right....I'll definitely do a search. I did watch youtube videos, it's just so hard to tell from the video. It does look pretty darn fast. Thank you for the info.

And make sure to ride Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Surprisingly fun ride. A lot like "the whip" if you've ever been to Kennywood.

If you do the SRL, there is no way to know if you'll be in the same car or even in the same set of cars. I've seen the CMs split up groups on purpose and other times send two people to the same car. I'd say you stand a pretty good chance of being in the same set of cars, but not necessarily in competing cars. The only thing that has been fairly consistent is that the will not accept requests (to be together) if you're in the SRL.

According to Wikipedia, the top speed is 40 mph, but that seems kind of fast to me. It feels like you're going fast, but if you watch the cars go by from the viewing area, it looks much slower than it feels.

In general, FPs are lasting much longer now that RSR is linked to the rest of the DCA FP system and they no longer allow guests to line up before opening. I would still get one early in the day, but would guess they're lasting closer to 2-3 hours at this point (probably varies by day and how busy the parks are). The standby line is still fairly long (usually longer than an hour on a slow day), so I would try to get a FP or do SRL.

so let me interject here with a different twist to a first time ever visit to Carsland...........do you have a desire to relive that very first moment that you stepped into a Disney park for the very time?

If so......make your very first visit at night, when the neon lights are bright, creating a whole new environment in the park. All you can see are the neon lights, all you know are the neon lights, you have no idea of the infrastructure holding the lights. And the Range, a magical twilight berm unlike anything that Disney has to offer as a park border.

Don't make it about RSR for the very first time, make it about the lights. Capture it by night first, that the nocturnal beauty is the wrapping of what awaits you the next day.

So infatuated I am with the night time Carsland, that I will try to wait as long as possible in the years coming before seeing it under that RSR sun.

Now that's a great idea....I can't wait to see it at night.

Even though RSR isn't as crazy popular as when it first opened in 2012, you can still expect a decent wait anytime of the year. I would count on at least 50 minutes unless you go right at park opening. If you have EMH and you take advantage of it to ride RSR, that's even better. Now, since RSR is high-tech, it does break down quite often, and sometimes it has a late start in the morning or even extended maintenance that lasts until early afternoon. Thus, I recommend experiencing RSR as soon in your trip as possible, as if you wait too long, you might end up not getting to experience it at all.

Now, remember, even though RSR has very long stand-by waits, there is no need to ever wait in them. Unless you go at opening when the lines have not started to develop yet, do not wait stand-by. To minimize waits, use FP. Since disney changed the RSR fastpass system last June, you can now get fastpasses way later in the day than you could before. Still, if you want to be safe, try to get them before 11 am. If you happen to miss getting a FP, instead, hop in single rider. The wait there really depends, and I have heard it ranging from walk-on to 45 minutes. Still better than stand-by, though.

Also, take your time walking around enjoying the ambiance of carsland if you get the chance. It is such a magnificent place that one could spend a whole other day just soaking up the atmosphere!
