I have a question regarding lining up at grand Californian for access to DCA. Since we are staying on site we plan on entering through this entrance for the
Grand reopening on the 15th. How long can we expect the line to be to get in? And will this entrance be strictly enforced to hotel guests only on this date? The plan is to get in line around 600 or so, not sure if all the hotel guests are planning the same, so I'm not sure if this is early enough. Any help or info that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am guessing they are going to be extremely dilligent in only allowing guest access to this entrance on this morning. I am thinking they do not want 1000 guests to be lining up in the hotel that night and morning so they may only limit access to DCA to GCH guests. Only time will tell but I am curious as well since we are going to be guests of this hotel that night and day

I think they will limit access to this entrance to hotel guests all day, all summer like when WOC opened. At the very least they limit it to hotel guests in the mornings still.

When WoC opened did they allow you to use that entrance if you had eaten in DTD or at the GCH? I know I've been able to use the entrance with no problems after dining there but can't remember the dates.......

...How long can we expect the line to be to get in? And will this entrance be strictly enforced to hotel guests only on this date?

So, here's the full truth: While these are great questions for planning, NO ONE here can tell you the answer (well, unless they work at the GCH and have information regarding your second question).

It's Opening Day of a highly anticipated, highly promoted new "thing." And it's Disney fans. If the lines were anything BUT crazy I would be surprised. But no one can tell you what to realistically expect. Something like this has not happened in almost 15 years.

Plan LOTS of time, bring your patience, go with the flow, and have fun!

It's not my patience I'm worried about. It's my 3 & 5 year old waiting in a line forever. I'm just hoping they don't change their mind and decide that only Grand guests can use the entrance and that all other Disney hotel guests have to go to the main entrance.

I just spoke to the front desk at GCH (as I have clients staying there for opening and woudl like to know as well) and this is what they said:
"They are not allowing anyone to line up at all at the private entrance for DCA in the GCH as their fire regualtions won't allow it. People can hang around the lobby, but there will be no lines and if there are too many people hanging out in the lobby, they will be sent to the main entrance. This goes for guests of all 3 hotels. I asked what if 1000 people are hanging around and he said then they will be sent to go line up in the main entrance. He expects that to happen though.":confused3

I don't know how accurate that is as I continually read about misinformation from CM's, but this seems a little absurd.

Maybe if someone else called they would get a better answer.
He also said that they would be allowed entry an hour earlier w/Grand guests first, but again if there were too many people were there they would be sent to the main entrance???

Bump:

Just wondered if anyone else got other info from a different source other than the guy I spoke to at GCH???

I sure don't want to wait for two hours in line and then be told that we have to go get to the back of the main entrance line. I can already see many people being disappointed, but I sure don't want to get into it with hotel employees. Guess I will just have to ask when we check in on Tuesday and then keep checking the board periodically.

FYI: Just spoke to Aval at GCH front desk who asked his manager and he said that they have not decided yet what to do with the line ups and that will be released one or two days before. As for if all DL guests can use the GCH private entrance, he said they will be allowed.
So, I guess everyone will find out that day since they don't seem to know either.
Good luck all and have fun!!!
