My hubbie and I are taking our 5 year old son to DLP shortly (43 days to be exact, not that Im keeping track or anything *ahem*)

My little one has aspergers syndrome and for the past 3 years his obsession has been with Cars, as you can imagine he is beyond excited-even worse than me- and is hoarding every penny he can find to spend on cars merch while we are away.....which suddenly made me think, I hope to god there is a lot of cars stuff available to buy!

Can anyone who has been recently let me know if there is much cars stuff available, particularly dyecast toy cars which he collects..he would be super pumped to get some rarer stuff.

In particular one car he saw on a you tube video (yes, he likes to watch you tube videos of other people showing off their car collections :rolleyes1) which is a lightning mcqueen with mickey ears and a mater with goofy ears!

Hellooooooo,

We took our 5 year old ASD son last Feb for the first time and its amazing. We're going again on Feb 9th - sounds a similar time to you actually.

There is a LOT of Cars stuff to buy - but it is very over priced in my opinion. If money isn't a major issue, then he could have a field day there. I am not sure that there would be any of the rarer die-casts, because the shops tend to sell the mainstream items.

Does your DS suffer with any sensory probs at all? The shops are very bright, and noisy, and 'snug' for space, it feels like everyone is on top of each other.

Let me know if you have any other questions, sometimes having a DS on the spectrum makes you see things differently from the standard brochure viewpoint.

what a coincidence! we leave on the 14th of feb and will return on the 17th, tbh I was just hoping they would stock some cars stuff he didnt have already, as he once told me 'cars is my life'

he does yeah, unfortunately he is very hyper sensitive to noise and smells. We have ear defenders for him which helps but I am a bit worried about hearing of the manic breakfast buffets... I wonder if they would let me take the food back to our room for him. This year he couldnt even manage to eat christmas dinner at the table with us *** we had visitors and the smells of the food en masse was making him gag bless him.

Did you get an easy access pass for your son? Do they work the same as other theme parks and let you enter via the exit? Waiting in queues isnt neccessarily a problem for my son its more the close proximity of other people in the queues he cant deal with!

where abouts are you staying? also how does your wee one cope with holidays in general, I find one day and mine wants to come home..am hoping the cars theme will win him over (and it saves me having to drag his bedding along!!)

Our son has autism, and is also cars obsessed! We will be there the same week as you too.

He did get some cars stuff last time we were there, and I am hoping there will be more available this time, with the Cars 2 film being quite a recent release. Also hoping for something different than what he already has, even though he would quite happily get ANOTHER lightening Mcqueen to add to the pile he already has.

As has been said though, it is extortionately priced, but hard to explain to little boy that he can't have a die cast car for E15, when you know you can get it at home for £4!!

We are really looking forward to the stunt show, it was herbie in the show when we went last time, so Lightening Mcqueen is a very exciting addition for us!

My DD wasn't well last time we were there, so DH explained to the waiters at breakfast, and he was allowed to bring a tray back for me. I am sure if you explained the situation when you check in, they could arrange something for you.

Hope you have a great time

when we were there in june, i got my son a couple of really cool car tshirts. im sure they had pjs etc aswell. there pretty much the same price as they would be in the disneystore here.
