Carryon baggage allowance

Hi, we are just trying to pack our cases... and I want to check what the current hand luggage allowance is from the UK to the US (we are flying with virgin)

At one point recently it was only one piece per person - no extras eg laptop...

Can anyone let us know what the current rules are? Does DH have to put his laptop in his handluggage bag, or can he carry it separately.

Also can anyone confirm that I can put DS in a stroller up til the point we get to the gate and it will then be transfered to the hold for us, with no extra charge?

Here are the Virgin Hand Luggage restrictions.

Looks like unless you are flying upper then the laptop will count as his one piece.

When did you book? If it was before 25 November 09 you still get the old luggage allowance, which as far as I understand, allows you the extra item (like coat, laptop etc). Don't quote me on this before you check though. Have you gone into "manage my booking" on the Virgin Atlantic website? It shows you, if you scroll down on your booking page, exactly what you are allowed to take. Mine still shows the old allowance of 2 pieces for economy hold (can't remember what the hold luggage was - don't think I have checked yet). Then print it out if it is in your favour to take with you in case of any questions.

Hand luggage didn't change. You can still take a coat or small handbag but nothing that could be consider 'extra baggage'.

We booked post the changes... so one piece of check in and one carry on each! Will be fine, it's just a shame that the laptop weighs so much, and our hand luggage bags are so heavy! Is weird for me this time with DS as I usually try not to carry on anything more than a normal handbag...
