So I know it is 2 per person--usually one carry on and one personal item (like a purse or laptop).
We got informed as we were boarding our plane on Thursday that EACH person must carry their own carryons.
Now my children are small--I had to carry little ones backpack and hubby carried everything else that fit our allotment as I wasn't able to carry much due to doctor's orders.
The Gate agent said that EACH person must PHYSICALLY carry their own items on the plane and was being a little witchy about it (and yes I said something).
(All our items did other wise meet these requirements).
I have flown several times since 9/11 and have NEVER heard of such a strict requirement. Is it really that strict with the FAA? I imagine not since the gate agent let us board anyway and nothing was said at any other airport prior to this (including the last time I was there) or at our connection to ATL.
